Phone consult with endo.

I have just had a phone consultation with endo and we discussed my latest blood test results. He says my high T4 may be due to being over medicated (on 125mcg) and then said may be conversion problem, but on hearing how high my antibodies are, said that would explain my hypothyroid diagnosis (like I didn't know this already). Told me I need to sort out my body clock as going to bed at 3am or later and sleeping till after 2pm and to sleep in a cold room as warmth gives us more energy and may stop us from sleeping (easy for someone who doesn't feel cold 95% of the time to say). Says I need a complete set of bloods done including adrenal, pituitary as well as all thyroid bloods. Obviously I can't go to have bloods taken at the moment and I think it is most likely to be August before this happens, but I'm worried that my depression may get so much worse that I may attempt suicide again. I have a telephone consultation with my psychiatrist on Thursday morning and will tell him what endo said but know that he can prescribe liothyronine if he feels it's necessary as he has already told me my depression is treatment resistant. I just feel stuck and if anyone can suggest anything to help me through this ongoing crisis I would certainly appreciate it.

Please talk to someone if you feel suicidal. A close friend or family member or the samaritans. The situation we are all in at the moment is not helping anyone who is already depressed and I am sending you a virtual ((((hug)))) xx

I'm up,down all over the place and don't know whether this emotional roller coaster I'm on is due to my thyroid problems or suspected Borderline Personality Disorder. I have a telephone consultation with my psychiatrist on Thursday and am going to ask him about prescribing me liothyronine as he's already said my depression is treatment resistant. Talked about my adrenal with endo on phone yesterday but says they need to lots of blood tests to check my different glands. I just feel stuck, wish me luck with the psychiatrist.

Hi Sobs. I had treatment resistant depression, and was put on liothyronine a few years ago. They started me on 5mcg and this lifted my mood after about five days. Looks like you might have to reduce your levothyroxine a bit though if you are in danger of being over medicated.

If you are suicidal, your psychiatrist could put you in touch with the crisis team whilst you adapt to liothyronine . I think this so called treatment resistant depression for us hypos is more like incorrect treatment depression. Good luck.
