Still no luck getting my T3 back, please can someone help with my results

I saw my Endo regarding my GP stopping my T3 due to cost. He said he would write and ask why they are going against his recommendation but he hasn’t he has just sent the blood results. Please can someone interpret them for me?

TSH<0?01 mU/L

Free thyroxine 11.3 pmol/L

Free triiodothyronine 4.8 pmol/L

I am taking 100 of Levothyroxine and 20 mcg of Liothyronine. I have reduced my Liothyronine to 10 per day as I am almost out. I am already starting to go downhill like I did before when it was stopped.

To interpret them we would need the ranges.

Taking T3 can supress TSH and lower FT4.

Because you are taking T3 you cannot tell how well you are converting. You would need to use your blood results prior to starting T3 if you wished to use a conversion issue as a reason to continue T3.

Can you add the ranges on these results

If NHS endocrinologist says you have clinical need for T3 your GP should not stop prescription

GP should not alter T3 prescription - should ALWAYS refer back to endocrinologist BEFORE changing prescription

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested.

Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

Ask GP or endocrinologist to test vitamin levels

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

If/when also on T3, make sure to take last 1/2 or 1/3rd of dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test

Is this how you do your tests?

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

For thyroid including antibodies and vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

Have you given your endo a ring. It might just be a simple mistake.
