bestsleepsummit.com/knwpup/ Six speakers for today.

Haha, thanks Heloise!

I thought the first speaker Trudy Scott: Talking about GABA and Tryptophan for anxiety and insomnia. Also she talked about melatonin and 5HTP and when you would need one instead of another one. I have never taken any of these and I have always been kind of leery about melatonin, I am interested in possibly trying a low dose of GABA, I would have to read more about it first, she said it works well for tension and restless body, but that could also be caused by low magnesium, low iron, high cortisol or low blood sugar.

I liked the next 2 speakers also.

The first time I ever took Gaba it almost put me to sleep. It's good. You just need 1 mg. of melotonin. But you need to breathe, I think running a fan is really helpful.

Thanks, I had never really heard of GABA before, but now I’m interested in finding out more about it.

I read that GABA is a naturally occurring amino acid that works as a neurotransmitter in your brain. Neurotransmitters function as chemical messengers. GABA is considered an inhibitory neurotransmitter because it blocks, or inhibits, certain brain signals and decreases activity in your nervous system. One side effect of it is sleepiness, uhh, that’s what I am hoping for!

Heloise in reply to DebTex

I think being autoimmune does something to our amino acids, it seems every supplement we need is an amino acid.

I only got to listen to one speaker today, I didn’t know when I signed up that I’d be traipsing across country to go to a chiropractor 3 times a week, I’m bummed. I listened to Jane Barlow Christensen on Become a Sleep Ninja with Herbal Medicine because I really like herbal medicine!

She said that microbes can cause us to have to have bad sleep. She said some stressors are environment, belief, virus, fungus, parasites, she either said that she does a parasite cleanse twice a year or she recommended we do it or both.

I don’t know if we need to be tested or not first? She said that 95% of the world population has Epstein Barr.

Anti Viral herbs that she likes are Echinacea, Golden Seal, Osha Root, (forgive spelling) Red Root, her favorite is Desert Parsley.

She went over gut health, which obviously plays a big role in everything and that if we have parasites they can be bothersome when we’re trying to sleep. Unfortunately I can’t read half of my notes, I need to learn to write more legible😂

Core protocol, daily probiotics, fermented veggies, no caffeine, herbs for sleep that she likes are Valerian Root and Blue Vervain. She said that we are healing machines if we get the right tools!

Her website is barlowherbal.com and she has 5 interviews on you tube under Barlow Herbal.

That was an excellent rundown. I've heard that parasites are active at night. Dr. Group has one, too. Jay has his mimosa. Barlow has been on lots of other summits and also Supplements Revealed. She has a plant that really stinks and uses it as a last resort. I think Berberine is in Golden Seal. Echinacea is potent. I'll try to catch Davidson later.

DebTex in reply to Heloise

Thanks Heloise! I have a immune enhancer supplement that has echinacea in it, I like it!

Heloise in reply to DebTex

In Jay's part at min. 28 she asks about people without a gall bladder.

DebTex profile image
DebTex in reply to Heloise

Which talk was he on?

Heloise profile image
Heloise in reply to DebTex

Jay Davidson's but it's over now. He gave a nice program to detox starting with colon then bile/liver then gut then bloodstream. If you don't have a doctor he has

set up the program with the products you need plus a way to know the progress you

are making. You'll have to catch him during the replay, very thorough. The hostess is in Texas so he talked about Texas, too, about the radium.

DebTex profile image
DebTex in reply to Heloise

Thanks, I hope I can catch him in the replay! I tried the Valerian Extract last night, it said to take 1 ml dropper of it but I took less than half of it because I’m sensitive to so many things just to see. Turned out to be a bad night to try it, it thunderstormed on and off all night and my dog lets out an ear piercing bark every time it thunders, I’ll try again tonight and I’ll take more.

Heloise profile image
Heloise in reply to DebTex

Oh no, how did the valerian taste? Jay talks about people who are supersensitive, too, so detoxing will help that as well. He really believes in the Tudca and his is now Tudca plus.

DebTex profile image
DebTex in reply to Heloise

I was expecting it to taste bad, but it wasn’t at all. I’ll have to check out that Tudca, I’ve never heard of that!

I thought Keesha had an interesting concept about blood sugar and her recipe for two breakfasts; a light one and heavier within three hours. I've seen other recommendations to have salt in the morning and did she say root sugar? And this is to help your need for it since you don't store it and this will also help you sleep.

Heloise profile image
Heloise in reply to Heloise

I don't know if I agree with her but it's interesting that if your temperature goes up after a meal it means the meal agreed with you because it will stoke your metabolism. Maybe we could try something like that.

DebTex profile image
DebTex in reply to Heloise

I heard that too, I think she said eat something 30 minutes after you get up, I usually wait longer than than that after I take my thyroid meds. And I had never heard of taking your your temperature after eating either.

serenfach in reply to Heloise

Excess blood sugar is stored in the liver.

Heloise profile image
Heloise in reply to serenfach

Well, yes, but the idea is that people who are ill have little capacity to replace certain nutrients so for them eating is imperative. The reason I disagree with some of her statements, not that one, is that when our main fuel is sugar or glucose as she promotes, if you don't burn it all it becomes lactic acid and too much of that is not good because it leads to lactic acidosis which can lead to death.

serenfach profile image
serenfach in reply to Heloise

Lactic acid is usually only produced due to over exercising, but this usually dispersed naturally. It can build if you have heart failure or other underlying conditions and then becomes dangerous. We dont actually need any sugar at all in our diets.

Heloise profile image
Heloise in reply to serenfach

That's true and if you are healthy you should be able to disperse lactic acid but I'm talking about the mitochondrial level during glycosis to produce ATP.

Thanks for the link. I’m on amytriptyline and can’t sleep without it so would love an alternative. If you know of any I’d be interested in you sharing?

DebTex profile image
DebTex in reply to MissFG

You’re welcome, and I hope that you can get some useful info from them. I’ve only watched the first 3, I’ll try to watch more tomorrow as they are a little time consuming. I take 2, 400mg. Magnesium Glycinate before I go to bed and sometimes they help. I recently bought liquid Valerian in a dropper bottle, but haven’t tried it yet. I took Valerian a long time ago and I didn’t like it, but I can’t remember why🙄

Do you have trouble going to sleep, staying asleep, waking during the night and having trouble falling back asleep, or waking and not being able to back to sleep at all?

I do one of them, or several of them just about every night.

Have you tried any adaptogens? I’ve tried, Ashwagandha, Holy Basal, Rodiola Rosea, they all had a little bit of a calmative effect on me but didn’t help with sleep. I had to quit taking Ashwagandha, it’s a member of the ragweed family which I am sensitive to. I have bad allergies which I need to get tested for sometime.

I sympathize with you you on having sleep issues, people don’t understand unless they have it going on.

MissFG profile image
MissFG in reply to DebTex

Yes tried them but no luck. I had my amytriptyline tonight but it’s 1am and I’m still awake but trying to stay on a low dose or it soon creeps up!

Weight gain is a bit of an issue with amytriptyline but otherwise I have no other side effects. So maybe it’s not so bad. I’d rather sleep than try to function like a zombie

I guess in our cases, drug induced sleep is better than no sleep. I hope you’re sleeping 😴 sleeping 💤 now!

Dr. Pompa said he took two Seriphos tablets before bed. Pushes down cortisol.

He also mentioned Gaba, he says is a precursor of 5htp. He said to switch out with different adrenal supports as they are slightly different (if you are taking them).

Thanks for that Heloise, so a recurring theme on The Stop Fatty Liver, Supplements Revealed and now this Best Sleep Summit is DETOX, DETOX, DETOX !! and CLEANSE, CLEANSE, CLEANSE!!

Heloise profile image
Heloise in reply to DebTex

Yes, he explained how these toxins really interfere with everything your body is trying to do. He believes in fasting as a detox. It was frightening how he described your body eating muscle at night if your brain needs glucose!

DebTex profile image
DebTex in reply to Heloise

Oh geez, that does sound frightening! Jane Barlow believes in fasting as a detox too, there must be something to it, so many believe in it!

Heloise profile image
Heloise in reply to DebTex

Fasting kills bad cells. Dr. Pompa says that is why your detox pathways should be open.
