Vitamin D blood test

I have an appointment with the doctor on Tuesday. I need to ask him to arrange a blood test for vitamin D testing as this was not done on my last thyroid test.

Not sure yet what day the actual test will be arranged for but just wondering should I stop all vitamins (B complex, D3, K2, selenium, magnesium) now so that they don't interfere with the test resul?. Or is it just vitamin D3 I should stop now?

Additionally, will it still be okay to carry on taking my Levothyroxine on the day of the test? Thanks.

I would definately stop the B Complex a week before the test as I know biotin in it can affect the blood test. Am guessing not to take vit D on the day. Am sure someone else with better knowledge like Seaside Suzie will advise further.

If only testing vitamin D you don’t need to stop any supplements except vitamin D. Just don’t take vitamin D on day off the test

It is fine to continue with your Vit D but on the day of the test take it after the blood draw.

From what I understand, Biotin (which will be in your B complex) can affect any blood test, particularly hormone tests (if Biotin is used in the testing procedure, which most labs do). As Vit D is actually a hormone (produced by the kidneys) and not a vitamin, then to be on the safe side I personally would stop my B Complex for a week before the test.

As for the others, no need to stop them beforehand but like the D3 supplement, take after the test on the day.
