Oops, forgot to split dose!

Hi guys! I have my first blood test tomorrow to asses how the T3 is working for me.

I know that best process is to split today’s dose in two and take the second dose later.

I forgot to do this! I took 25mcg T3 as normal this morning.

Will it matter too much? Perhaps I could take half of tomorrow’s at midnight tonight instead?

I guess I’ll just have to bear it in mind with future results and indeed these results? Thanks all 😀

You will have a false low FT3 result because your last dose of T3 was longer than 8-12 hours away from the blood draw.

Perhaps I could take half of tomorrow’s at midnight tonight instead?

I wouldn't do that because you will have taken 37.5mcg in the previous 24 hours rather than 25mcg. Just leave it as it is.

I will do as you say and leave as is 😀

My dogs botty is still poorly, so I guess we do not suffer alone! 😂

Leave it. When you get your results bear in mind your 'real' fT3 is about (very rough guess) 10% higher than reported and your TSH is really a bit lower.

L-T3 has an elimination half life of about 24 hours. You can use an online half life calculator to see how much T3 would be left after 12 or after 6 hours and multiply your result accordingly. This is subject to lots of errors, we all have different rates of elimination, T3 elimination rates increase as fT3 levels rise and any T4 you have will in part be converted to T3. So, you can only get a rough idea.
