NDT and Levo

I have reduced my Levo dose to 25mcg Levo, and upped NDT to 1 1/2 grain. Still not sure this is working for me... Reduced dose 2 weeks ago after sweating, itching, sleeping in afternoon, frequent bowel movements. Tried 1 1/4 and 25mcg Levo but couldn't walk, slurred speech and lightheaded. Been on 1 1/2 NDT and 25 mcg Levo for 4 days. Still not sure if ratio is correct, could anybody offer advice please!

You have Hashi's don't you? Symptoms fluctuate with Hashi's activity and tweaking dose may be needed at these times.

Hi SeasideSusie, yes I do have hashi's... If I reduce Levo do I have to increase NDT then to compensate?

It's trial and error. If you are going through a Hashi's hyper phase you may need to reduce your thyroid hormone replacement altogether, not reduce one and increase the other, and if you're going through a hypo phase you'd maybe have to increase it. Only you know how you feel and if you feel over or undermedicated. I don't have Hashi's so have no personal experience to pass on.

Forget ratios. They have no place in the treatment of hypothyroidism. You need what you need, and if you need more T3 then you need more T3. Trying to keep to strict ratios is a fruitless endeavour. It's how you feel that is important.
