Good Day to you all, i have been suffering violent daily headaches in the forehead from morning til night. I have had them for about 6 weeks now. They seem worse in the morning. Today I have had to take paracetamol as they are making me feel awful.
Please any advice greatly appreciated..
I am taking Levothyroxine 100mcg Daily
Liothyronine 20mcg daily.

Headaches can be a side effect of Levo. Can you pin point if they started with a change in anything, maybe with your Levo - brand, dose, etc., your T3, any supplements, etc.
If not then I'd discuss this with your GP

Levo T4 - 75mcg to 100mcg
Lio T3 - 30 mcg to 20mcg

From your post I gather you're not keen on taking painkillers. Nor am I but I know it's hard when you have constant pain. I find Forehead invaluable. It's a balm that you apply all over the forehead and it really does work. I first discovered this type of balm when I was pregnant and particularly wanted to avoid taking painkillers. It's available from Boots and other chemists.
Obviously, you do need to find out what is causing the headaches. In the meantime though I hope this is helpful.

I am not medically qualified but you could be sensitive to the fillers/binders in your dose. I assume you take both hormones at the same time?
If you do, I'd take one antihistamine tablet one hour before you take levothyroxine and wait a few hours to see if you get a headache. You could take T3 later on in the afternoon .
The following a.m. I'd take one antihistamine one hour before liothyronine and wait and see if you still getting a headache. Then take your levo dose.
Hopefully the antihistamine can resolve if it is levo or lio that is the culprit and then you could try another manufacturer's T4 or T3.

If they match up with where your pain is then do some research on what your options are. I don't know anything about the sinuses, so can't suggest anything sensible.
I don't split any dose. I am aware that some do.
With T3, liothyronine, which I take when I get up with one glass of water
You can take levo/lio together if you wish.
The purpose of T3is it has to saturate all of our T3 receptor cells and that one dose lasts between one to three days.
T4 is an inactive hormone and has to to T3.
I shall give you a link by an expert in the treatment of hypothyroidism who would never prescribe levo at all. He only prescribed NDT or T3 alone for those who were 'resistant to thyroid hormones'. He was also an Adviser to TUK before he died through an accident.

Is that correct
Levothyroxine increased by 25mcg to 100mcg and T3 reduced by 10mcg to 20mcg
That’s a dramatic drop in T3
Did headaches start after reduced T3?
Yes I went from 30 mcg to 20mcg, and Levothyroxine from 75mcg to 100mcg, as prescribed by the Endo, as she cannot get me symptom free.. And yes thinking about it, that's when my headaches started.. I am going to see Endo on Monday week..

I too have these hideous forehead pains for 2 weeks now and they come and go more come then go.
I’m on 100mg synthyroid and 10mg cytomel
High blood pressure can cause continuous headache, might be worth getting it checked.

I had a horrible forehead headache when I tried Tiromel. I persisted with it but had to go back to Cytomel as the headache was so bad. I’m fine on Cytomel.

hi Bubba, I'm a bit late to the conversation, but would love to know if you've managed to pinpoint or alleviate your headaches as I'm on more or less the same dose of t4 (75-100) and T3 (10-20)and have similar headaches which is helped by paracetamol but not cured (& doesn't seem a healthy or optimal solution). I hadn't related the headaches to my medication but it seems possible. I also get incredibly dehydrated, regardless of how much water i drink.
Anyway, hope you're feeling better by now and would love to hear from you if you feel like reporting back. Thank you!
Hi Vivo, I hope you're okish and the headaches have lifted.. I had a brain scan and all ok there, which is reassuring, but still getting them, Apparently it is a side effect of the medication that we take... But I have been doing steam inhalation with Olbas oil every day, and the headaches are not as bad... Also I think it could be sinus headaches as they are in my forehead and having them daily.... Went to my GP, and she has given me a nasal spray to help with the nasal congestion, which is helping.... Maybe you should try the steam inhalation it does help....
