Ive been taking Carbimozole since Nov 2019 and now on 5mg per day. I always seem to have a headache and wondered if anyone else has had this issue.

Carbimozole and headaches
Do you have some recent blood results to share with us? We need the TSH (this might be suppressed) T4 and T3 and any antibody levels you might have. Also do you have any vitamin levels? They are nearly always low in thyroid disease sufferers so we need B12, Iron and Ferritin, Vitamin D and Folate.
Here is a link about the drug you are taking which shows the side effects.

Hello....thank you for your reply. I have asked consultant to send blood test results....in his letter he said thyroid levels are satisfactory. I will speak to GP about test for vitamin levels.
I wouldn't take his word for it because my Endocrinologist overdosed me on PTU. You need to see your results with the ranges and post them on here. You are entitled to see all your results because it is the law btw.
I also take 5mg carbimazole and I have done so for very many years now. I do feel lucky that I have been able to tolerate this medication with almost no side effects for so long. I really hope that you will begin to feel a little better soon.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Ive managed to get a nurse appointment tomorrow for bloods to test vitamin levels. I just keep praying that consultant will reduce or stop altogether.....I think that's wishful thinking 😯
Is this a continuous headache or frequent bouts, are they mild or severe? Do you take any other medication? & what pain relief, if any do you take? Have you heard of rebound headaches?
I ask this as I had frequent headaches when diagnosed hyper and they completely ceased once I adjusted to carbimazole & propranolol.
When I stopped propranolol 2 months later they returned with a vengeance (constant ache). I previously had occasional severe migraines with auras & nausea. In the end I went back on propranolol as it protects against migraines.
Due to a few health issues, I found many reasons to try magnesium glycinate. I found it helpful for lowering the number & severity of headaches. It’s often deficient in hyper sufferers & has links associated with migraines. There is a number of posts on here to research about different sorts of magnesium & safe dose if it is something you think may be relevant to you.
Okay thats very interesting. I seem to get bouts of headaches which can be fairly uncomfortable. I tend to take paracetamol and ibuprofen which dulls them to a degree. I have spoken to my consultant today and he is happy for me to stop Carbimozole and look at bloods in two months. I've booked for vitamin bloods so that will be interesting to see the results.
Ive never suffered with migraines in the past, but that seems to fit the bill....particularly since its around left side temple area.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
