Endocrinologist visit

Hi folks, I have now seen the long awaited endocrinologist who said that all of my bloods are within range, that T3 could only be prescribed to cancer patients and that she is not allowed to prescribe it on the NHS. I explained that I am feeling ill and that I am concerned about low vit D and high ferritin levels. She said I could supplement with Vit D and I explained that J have been supplementing since April and that it has risen only a little (with Betteryou vit D with K2 - she did not know what K2 was) and that I do not not have an iron rich diet. She said the results would be over 1000 for me to be tested for haemachromatosis. With these results would it now be worth my while going to a private endo? I have already spent hundreds on medichecks tests. She made it quite clear that there would be no further testing for T3 or iron overload on the NHS.

Could you possibly post your blood test results on here. We can then have a look and see if your Endocrinologist has made the right decision.

If you’re getting nowhere with the NHS I’d suggest a private only Endocrinologist to help you. No point in seeing a NHS/private Endocrinologist as they wear the same cap, so to speak.

I have details of a private only Endocrinologist if you wish to know his details please pm me.

Are you in Scotland/Glasgow? I couldn’t find one there. I will post results in separate post. Thanks.

I suggest you contact your local CCG to see what their rules are for prescribing T3. It is unwise to believe that the endocrinologist is fully aware of the current rules if they have changed since he last read them perhaps many years ago. Mine actually believes that the "active" components of natural NDT are the synthetic "inactive" prohormone levothyroxine and synthetic liothyronine! he was, I believe, simply repeating what the manufacturers of Armour NDT said on their website. They replaced that nonsense with the truth when I challenged them.

Some CCG's, including mine, do prescribe T3 if you can obtain the backing of an NHS endocrinologist in an NHS establishment. However they also proved themselves to be totally incompetent by telling me, in writing, that I could get NDT by obtaining such backing from an endocrinologist.

In other words, don't believe anything you are told unless and until you can check it out for yourself independently to be the truth. I am totally disgusted with all the lies concerning thyroid issues that proliferate around the net, believed without question by the gullible consequently leaving unknown numbers of people ill for life, desperate for proper treatment from medical experts who are unprepared to learn the truth.
