Hi was diagnosed with thyroid 2 years ago . was on eltroxin but changed to naturethroid . but before I went on naturethroid I was having heart palpitations flying heart sweating tremors etc . went into hospital had ecgs echos etc etc was told heart fine. I'm now on bisoprolol 2.5mg for my heart, but in the last week had more bloods done and my iron is very high they now think I've hemachromatosis so having a gene test. forgot to mention I'm hypothyroidism. anybody experience any of this.... can't sleep with fast heart rate. breathless.

How high is your iron? I have over the range Ferritin mine is 300 when it should be under 150. it has been like this for a while because I have inflammation in my body because of Graves' disease. My Doctor has told me if my Ferritin reaches 800 I will have to give blood to lower it. Do you have some thyroid blood results and vitamin level results to share with us?

I'm on 1 grain naturethroid but still symptoms heart palpitations breathlessness my b12 is 447 my folate is 7.7 and I'm told by my hospital my levels all fine except iron. I think my iron only high bec of inflammation. I wish these palpitations and breathlessness would stop. drs want to put me on another heart tab. but my heart is fine. I'm hypothyroid 2 years. would I be right saying eltroxin builds up in your body causing these probs. xx

My ferritin is 220 and saturation level is 86% I don’t believe I have hemachromatosis I think it’s all to do with my thyroid. But I’m open to being wrong. My b12 is 440 folate is 7.7 and vitamin d is low

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Do you have Hashimoto's diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies?

Hemochromatosis is Possibly more common with Hashimoto's.

verywellhealth.com/hypothyr...

Rarely, certain diseases, like hemochromatosis, can deposit abnormal substances (iron, in the case of hemochromatosis) in your pituitary gland, causing central hypothyroidism, or less commonly, your thyroid gland, causing primary hypothyroidism.

Hashimoto's frequently causes inflammation and this can cause slightly raised ferritin levels

Iron levels need to be very high for hemochromatosis

Hemochromatosis more common in people with Celtic ancestry

Do you have any results and ranges to add
