Can anyone tell me if they have heart issues related to underactive thyroid? I was undiagnosed for around 15 years. After being treated, not effectively for 8 years I now appear to have been diagnosed with aortic stenosis.
Anyone have similar issues?

Do you have the results of the blood tests you had done with the Consultant some 3 months ago I believe. Heart problems can be linked to too much T3 or more often to too little
Interesting link - really spells out the risks. Own chest pain and frequent palps all but disappeared on T3, but if my dose is too high they re-appear.
Do you have the results of the thyroid tests you had done ?? Did you look at the Research paper I posted for you ? - always good to have some feedback 😊
I was told a had a heart murmur recently by a pre-op nurse and then told the other day by a GP that I did not have a murmur so unsure what to think!! I had severe chest pain for years which went away when I started T4/T3 a year ago. Sorry to hear you have a heart problem. X
First I am very sorry you have now got heart issues and hope it can be sorted out quickly.
I am not medically qualified but have read that if not optimally treated we can develop other more serious problems, i.e. like heart etc.
Have you had recent blood tests which you can have post. If not please get a new Full Thyroid Function Test i.e. TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies. The test should be the earliest possible, fasting (you can drink water) and allow 24 hours gap between last dose and test and take afterwards.
If GP wont do all of these you can get the ones from a private lab. We have two.
Once you post your results, with the ranges, members will comment. You could still be underdosed and it is necessary for you to be on 'optimum' dose so that your FT4 and FT3 are near top of range. Rarely do they test these two and I'll give you a link to read about them:-
Im afraid my heart issues extend beyond that. I appear to have aortic stenosis and it went from mild 3 years ago to moderate/severe now. Im not sure any of that is to do with the thyroid because its to do with a dodgy valve that I was possibly born with but i wonder whether the progression of it might be quicker because of the thyroid.
Hi Numberone1 - Have just seen your post and yes I seem to have the same problem as you. I was only diagnosed with the heart murmer/valve problem a few months ago . I had been told 18 months ago by the Arythmia Nurse that my ectopic beats ( showing on ECG ) were harmless and I was discharged. When I was referred back to Cardiology again this year she told me the same thing. However I had researched and been told that ectopic beats should not be stated as harmless without having had a scan of the heart....and I told her this. I then got a phone call from the Arythmia nurse after the heart scan to inform me I "have a valve problem but heart function was good ". No treatment .....just monitor it yearly.
However I have been feeling progressively unwell over the last 18 months to 2 years. GP has even put TATT on my medical notes. I had been putting it down to my thyroid ( Hashimotos) and low vitamins etc etc. It is only recently that I am now wondering if it is the valve problem .
Are you having any treatment for yours ? It would be good to compare notes. 🌻
I'm up to date with the problem now and it's all a bit scary. I was told I had a benign heart murmur since a child but may be not. I got a diseased valve from rheumatic fever when I was 10. Over time (I'm 59) the valve has ended up with stenosis. I will need open heart surgery or my valve will fail in about 2 years so severe. It could just fail also so feel a bit scared. I'm now worried if I shoujd continue to take T3. Is it too harsh?
