Hi, when I’m under medicated I suffer regular bouts of quite severe chest pain, but it goes away within about ten minutes. I’m not suffering them at present as my levothyroxine dose seems ok. I’ve been afraid at times that I’m having a heart attack - can anyone please advise me what these pains are as I often read about them as a symptom but nobody ever says what is causing the pain, ie heart, muscular neurological?

Nobody here will be able to tell you what they are or what is causing them. Have you discussed them with your GP and had any investigation done?
Explain the pain to your GP. I also had shortness of breath and GP ordered chest X-ray and ran ECG ( nothing showed up) and referred me to a respiratory clinic. Dr there was very thorough, checked me over, took history then ordered blood tests ( I counted 40 results) breathing tests ( which came back at exceptionally good for my age) and full body CT scan—- nothing showed up.
I deduced it was low B12 which caused the shortness of breath ( it resolved with supplements) and the chest pain was costochondritis ( resolves in minutes with heat applied to chest) But could only do this after everything else was ruled out.
Thank you for our help - don’t think I’ve been tested for B12 deficiency
Thank you that was very interesting. I totally agree with the sub-clinical symptoms - I had symptoms for years before Hashimotos showed up on blood tests
