Hi has anyone experienced chest heaviness/pain when under active ? I’ve a resting heart rate of 70bpm and no palpitations .Pain also between my shoulder blades .Im currently on 100mg of eltroxin for the last 3 weeks am increasing slowly after my new doctor took me off everything due to me going hyper on 125mg just after new years (was on that dose 5 months).i then went to having a tsh of 27 and last result was tsh 15,I think she’s doing more harm than good to me at this stage dropping a raising doses all over the place ,but requires a much longer post to explain full details ,€1000 later and I’m worse so disappointed but it’s a common occurrence on here .for now I’m worried about the chest pain and heaviness .

Any chest pain and heaviness should be checked out, I have microvascular angina which causes the same symptoms.

Can that just come on all of a sudden ?

Any chest pain that comes on suddenly should definitely be checked, it may be muscle strain but you can't be sure.

Low iron and/or ferritin can cause chest tightness

When were these, plus vitamin D, folate and B12 last tested?

Do you have Hashimoto’s

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

Or after dose of levothyroxine is reduced

Ask GP to test vitamin levels

You may need to get full Thyroid testing privately as NHS refuses to test TG antibodies if TPO antibodies are negative

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Is this how you do your tests?

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

For thyroid including antibodies and vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

Yes I have Hashimoto’s with very high TPO for almost a year now ,I’m fighting so hard for my T3 to be checked to no avail and huge cost I’ve finally gotten a online test myself and will be doing it tomo and sending it .last time my b12 iron folate and D were done ,ferritin was low alright but everything else was good .

Are you in the UK ?

Thousands and thousands of us use private testing

No I’m in Ireland and I’ve just received my first private test kit that I will be using tomorrow. It’s “let’s get checked “-priva path diagnostics.

I’ve spent €1000 since Dec on a doctor that didn’t deliver but at least I got an ultrasound completed with showed no nodules ,if anything she’s made me sicker .

strictly gluten free diet helps or is essential for majority of Hashimoto's patients

Get coeliac test first

Thanks I’ve been tested for coeliac and it was negative.im working on gluten-free diet I know I’m not 100% yet but I’m close and going to get there ASAP .

Trying strictly gluten free diet for 3-6 months

If no noticeable improvement, BEFORE considering reintroducing gluten retest TPO antibodies, see if they have reduced

If you reintroduce gluten see if symptoms get worse

This link explains why almost gluten free isn’t good enough
