Magnesium malate recommendation needed please.

Well I bought some (not cheap) quality tablets but they are 2.5 long and around 1.3 deep and the same wide. Though I don’t usually have trouble swallowing large pills, I’ve Tried to swallow them twice now and nearly choked and threw them up. I also tried them cut in half but they were too sharp and scratched my throat on the way down Can anyone either recommend some that are smaller or is a trick to getting them down easier?

I could crush the whole lot and mix in something sweet I suppose?

Nutramedix magnesium malate capsules from Amazon. Very pure. Magnesium malate should be capsules or powder to mix with liquid so it's pure.

Oh, that's interesting I didn't know that. These are coated bullets and I notice they have lots of fillers. It's taking me a long time to learn about all the vitamins and how to take them!

Yes you want to avoid tablets with fillers. So powder or powder in false for magnesium. Unfortunately not may available in uk

Hi

If you are keen to use the tablets, rather than waste them, before getting something smaller, I find it helpful to take a gulp of water before taking the tablet, then straightaway popping the tablet in your mouth and taking another gulp of water. The first water seems to smooth the way and help with subsequent swallowing. This always works for me. Hope this helps you too.

Best wishes

Caroline

I am keen yes - have spent so much on blood tests and vitamins so I will try this thanks. My husband did suggest something similar but I've got a bit of a mental block after the near choking experience.

Just to let you know i managed to get one down in two halves. Took a lot of water and did feel stuck at first so i just have to get over the psychological part! 😳

Thank you for letting me know. I’m glad you’ve managed to swallow the tablet, even if it is in two halves! It may well get easier as you get more confident🤗.

All the best anyway.

When I struggle I increase the size of the gulp of water I take to get pills down. I can't do it with just a sip of water.

Like many thyroid patients I struggle with any tablets. Never did before thyroid kicked off

Calm vitality magnesium powder is cheap and easy to use, but is magnesium citrate and can cause diarrhoea if take too much

ReMag liquid is excellent, doesn't upset gut at all. But expensive as comes from USA. Was developed by Carolyn Dean who wrote The Magnesium Miracle

Thanks SD. Will look into these. Unfortunately cost is a factor but might be worth at least a trial. And, actually Im going out so little these days so thats saving me money!

Is this a swallowing issue for you or are you talking about fillers here? I ask because I swear I’m having swallowing difficulties at times.

Swallowing became much more difficult.

I offer buy vitamins that are powders in capsules.....but tip the powder out. Swallowing capsules would be impossible

Swallowing has improved quite a lot now I am on T3 as well as Levothyroxine, but still not as easy as pre thyroid

I have ord's Thyroiditis..... shrunken and shrivelled thyroid.....classic "lump in throat" for years on just Levothyroxine

Oh that sounds horrible for you. Ive used to be bad at swallowing pills but thought i was over it until the last couple of years. I might try and crush these malate pills as the swallowing just isn't working out. Im going to google your thyroiditis type 🙂

I didn't know it came with or without lol! Always more to learn. My endo said I have a small goitre the G.P. said not, I think I can see my thyroid and that it is swollen - the G.P. said not. Who knows I just know I feel ill a lot like many of us on here. :)
