Hello I wonder if anyone can help, I was recently diagnosed with a hiatus hernia and gather some of the prescribed medication may not help with the absorption of levothyroxine. A friend recommended lansoprazole but if anyone can recommend so I can request from Gp, to date my surgery has not been helpful with regards to my UAT or hypothyroidism, I feel the need to take them down the right path to get what I want or need!
Thanks in advance

I too have HH and Barrett’s oesophagus. I have taken omeprazole for a good ten years now. I have to take if well away from thyroid replacement so I take ndt and levo around 05:00 hrs when I go to spend a penny. I have a back up alarm but never seem to bed it. I can then take Omeprazole and other meds across the day/ evening.
This is just personal experience. I cannot recommend any medication for you as I am neither medically qualified or kniw enough about your medical history or even if your HH needs surgery rather than medication. The need for surgery is a decision usually made by the gastroenterologist. Were you revere to a consultant or back to GP when endoscopy was done?
I’ve been told by endocrine and gastrointestinal Drs that if your on “omeprozale “ and levothyroxine that the omeprozole is a “pump inhibitor “ which cancels out the levothyroxine and what it does.So my gp is going to try another mrs for the acid reflux and diverticulitar disease that I have which isn’t helping.
Look up pump inhibitor meds and levothyroxine contradictions
Hi, I cannot advise you as not qualified, but, for me I have really bad acid reflux, so take lansaprazole which calms it down. However I take it at least 4 hours after my levothyroxine, I find that my diet helps gluten free and staying off of acidic foods seems the best . It doesn't leave much to eat 🤦🏼♀️ hope this helps
