help with my current symptoms

Hi everyone!

Much needed advice with my current symptoms.

I have recently suffered with the flu with lingering cold symptoms too.

I suffer with hypothyroidism and these symptoms seem to be taking a downward spiral even though I am taking the usual protocol of 1 1/s grains NP Thyroid daily, B12 injections and daily Vitamin D and iron supplements.

It is normal for me to suffer more in the winter, I have severe fatigue and hand and foot numbness and my walking/balance is also effected, my energy levels are very low too.

I was wondering if I should restart adrenal supplements as this has been extremely effective for me in past years, was wondering if someone can advise the best way to reintroduce these.

Any other advice would be much appreciated, thank you x

Sorry that you are suffering.

Do you have any recent lab results that you can post...importantly, with ranges.

This info will help members to offer advice.

It may be that you are under medicated and also have low B12 but without labs it's almost impossible to say.

Many of us test privately, this may be helpful -

Hi DippyDame

I dont have any bloods at the moment, will need to do the bloods when I have the money.

I will continue to self inject every other day and everything else mentioned in my post.

Having the flu has knocked me sideways and have responded well to adrenal supplements was wondering if someone could advise how I start to reintroduce this as Im already taking thyroid meds.

When I saw Dr Petefield we fired my adrenals up first then started the thyroid meds.

Thank you

I understood what you were asking, sorry,I didn't clarify that.

What makes you think you need to reintroduce adrenal supplements?

When did you last have a test?

I feel you are grasping at straws which is understandable when you feel ill,

In your situation I would retest before making any changes, that gives you a baseline to work from....I know, I'm sounding like a broken record!

Do you know if you adequately convert T4 to T3?

Your current protocol clearly isn't working right now.

Were you well before you had flu?

Maybe you need to wait until the virus has cleared from your system and see if you improve again. Illness can reduce the effectiveness of T3.

I understand that I grain NPT equals 9 mcg T3 and 39 mcg T4 so your dose equals (approx) 13.5 mcg T3 plus 58.5 mcg T4....do you feel that is enough?

I suspect that you need more T3 but hopefully other members will jump in and offer different advice that makes you feel more comfortable.

Take care

DD

Hi DippyDame

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my SOS messege :)

I definately am clutching straws, so frustrating feeling crap, when I thought I was on the road to success at last.

Yes I agree, I will wait for this damn virus to pass and try upping my thyroid meds very slowly. I have to graze on the tablets throughout the day, I feel like I need more at the moment.

Thank you again, thank goodness for this group x

I read on TheTiredThyroid blog that 1 1/2 grains does not contain enough T4 for total thyroid hormone replacement. I could be wrong but when I was on 1 1/2 grains I could not go higher because of chest pain but I felt like crap. I finally added some T4 and felt better. No I just do a combo T4 and T3. It takes some experimentation to get it right. Take care!

Hi Wolfiesomom08

Thank you for your messege.

May I ask, does everyone in this community see a specialist or do you all self treat your symptoms? The reason I ask is I am not recognised as having any thyroid problems on the NHS, I saw Dr Skinner and Dr Peatfield who brought me back to life, Im now basically doing this myself. Had the best year in 10 years healthwise in 2019, deffo wasnt prepared for this.

I realise that current bloods will help, will get these done asap x

Thank you

I live in the US but still have trouble finding the right provider. I would reply to the whole group on this post not just my thread so they get notified.
