Puffy Eyes from Low Thyroid

termsofendearment profile image

About a year ago I developed eye bags or puffy eyes from my low thyroid. I had my allergies checked, thyroid and everything and even had eyelid surgery by a plastic surgeon to remove the bags. Well, now the puffiness has come back especially under one eye. My T3 was not doing well so my doctor put me on liothyronine. I was supposed to take mayne pharma brand but the pharmacy accidentally put me on sigma so I have to get mayne now. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do to help with this eye swelling underneath my eyes? I have tried everything. Thank you.

Mine gets better as my levels improve. Getting balanced sounds a stupid answer but I think it is the right one.

I have this too, it really ages me, I hate them! I would love to know the answer. Sorry I'm no help to you. It was one of the symptoms the first doctor pointed out before he started me on Thyroxine.

I think perhaps getting our ducks in a row is the answer, it's just proving quite hard. I keep trying though!

Good luck and happy Christmas.

I'm afraid it is one of the common symptoms of hypothyroidism, though at least it's not painful. I had it to begin with - in fact it sometimes felt as if my whole scalp was swollen as well. Then that disappeared. Now I have breathlessness, (my heart tested normal) tingling in my right fingers and swollen ankles instead!

Tingling fingers often happen when you have low B12.

True, but I am supplementing and the levels seem pretty good.

How about you @termsof endearment

I have in the past and I am more gluten free than I was but it's so hard to go totally gluten free. are you 100 percent gluten free?
