Hello Netty

I am on Thyroid S and understand you are already on NDT but swopping over from Efra.

I don't know enough as have only, ever, been on Thyroid S but understand the " S " stands for slow release which maybe the main difference, so it might make some sense to consider this implication.

1 grain / tablet of Thyroid S is said to contain, amongst other things, 38 T4 + 9 T3 :

I swopped over from monotherapy with T4. :

I started on 1/2 a tablet at around 4 in the morning:

Weekly I increased by a 1/4 of a tablet :

I have settled on 1 + 1/2 tablets and am settled on this dose :

I seem to be ok on the fixed ratio of 1/4 :

I continue to maintain my vitamins and minerals at optimum levels :

Good luck :

Hey could you private message me your source for thyroid s - the source I have got is really expensive. I am on levothyroxine 75mg at the moment and thinking of how to add T3. Thanks

Hi thanks for the reply,so probably could just switch right over since my body is used to t3

I believe Thyroid S is slow release, so this may have to be taken into consideration.

I've only ever taken this product so am not in a position to able to advise on swopping from any other NDT product.

Currently doing OK on Thyroid S. I am now on 3 grains, so two in the morning and one just before bed. I had been on two other NDTs before but they changed the formula of one and my levels went all over the place, and the other stopped being made. Quite happy with the way Thyroid S is working.

Good luck.

I understand the part on ndts not working anymore..i wish they would fibd out what the heck is going on..ive went from armour to erfa to np thyroid now back on my last pills of good erfa then will start thyroid-s its a shame how us hypothyroid patients have to deal with dumb doctors and changing ndts to crap when it was doing so well,we should be able to just take our pills and live life.

I switched to Thyroid-S a few years ago, after trying Armour and Erfa. Neither were optimal for me (I only used reformulated versions), plus cost a fortune. I briefly tried Thiroyd as well but much prefer Thyroid-S. It has worked very well for me, and I take it once daily for convenience with no problems. Personally, I find it to work better than both Armour and Erfa (despite all the fillers which initially worried me but I've felt no ill effects whatsoever). Online reviews are also consistently good.

Hope this helps.

I’ve been on Thyroid S for nearly five years. Now on three grains daily, half first thing and half at lunchtime. I still have hair loss issues, but otherwise am well and weight is now back where it was before my thyroid packed up.

I am wanting to solve hairloss using T3. So thyroid s will not necessarily solve this?

We are all different when it comes to resolving hair loss. The quantity of T3 in Thyroid S may be plenty for you. I found getting Vit D to a good level and maintaining it helped me with hair loss. This of course helps with lots of aspects of thyroid health so it may be that I get a little more T4 to T3 conversion helping. I take NDT. Good luck with Thyroid S, don’t forget to keep vitamins optimal.

What is your Ferritin level like because low Ferritin can cause hair loss as can low vitamin D. My hair loss of 3 years was caused by thyroid levels not being right because I have Graves' I am now in remission and my hair is growing back. I used to suffer with a very itchy scalp when I losing hundreds of hairs a day but that has now stopped.
