Tight feeling in neck
Are you now on Levothyroxine?
If not this may be the remaining thyroid struggling to make enough hormones
Or if on Levothyroxine, you may need dose increase
How long since your operation and have you had thyroid levels tested?
Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose change too
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Ask GP to test vitamin levels and thyroid including antibodies
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Other patients have found they have titanium clips in their neck after total thyroidectomy. But wether that's same after partial thyroidectimy ...

Presumably you did get a follow up appointment eventually after surgery?
I’ve had all the follow up appointments the drs just seam to ignore any thing I say ,but it’s not going away just waiting for a scan again ,I have a appointment in December at hospital and appointments in January
Has your GP done any blood tests?
Add results and ranges if you have any
Just testing TSH or TSH and FT4 is completely inadequate
Vast majority of UK patients on here forced to get full Thyroid and vitamin testing privately
Are you taking any Levothyroxine?
Thank you for your reply ,I don’t seam to be getting anywhere I’ve had 68 blood tests this year 4 ct scans and 5 mri scans and my Doctor never seams to have the results (last one August and they still haven’t got results) nhs round here is a nightmare x
I’ve been given nothing i asked for all tests back in March after surgery they came back ,just border line since then not checked I’m now feeling really weird ,other side of thyroid is starting to swell ,this weird pins and needles feeling in neck gets me down I told the dr but said x Ray I was quite sharp with him and what’s that going to show ? He then changed his mind scan or ultra sound I’m a bit lost here
If you had partial thyroidectomy then it could be a result of scar tissue shrinking. Some people get adhesions.
Thank you for reply
