Please help with Medicheck thyroid results!

I’m looking for some advice about my test result please!

I’m currently taking 60mcg (1grain) of Thiroyd (NDT from Thailand) and 50mcg of Actavis Levothyroxine.

On the whole I feel fairly well but do get tired now and then.

I was low on Vitamin D so have been supplementing with 1000 D12 spray for the past 2 months.

My TSH is suppressed, as is expected with NDT and the doctors comments advise that T3 and 4 are in range.

Is the T4 actually a little low though?

I was wondering whether half a grain of NDT with 75mcg if levothyroxine would be better?

Thank you 🙏

I am no expert, but those results look OK. It is the T3 that is the important one, as that is the one the body is actually using. As you say, it is normal for the TSH to be really low, but I have found my T4 is usually a wee bit low too. I sort of thought that if that is the storage, and my body is getting a decent dose of T3, it does not need to store. Does that make sense?

Yes, it does make sense. I’m 90% better with a mix of levothyroxine and NDT and feel content I guess, that my T3 is towards the top of the range 🙂.

I’ll follow the advice below and also take magnesium in the evening.

We are all different as to where we need our hormone levels to be. On combination replacement hormone, some people are fine with FT4 really low, others need it higher in the range, personally I have found that on a combination of Levo plus T3 I need both FT4 and FT3 to be around 75% through range, but not everyone does. So it's a case of experiment to find where you feel best.

I was low on Vitamin D so have been supplementing with 1000 D12 spray for the past 2 months.

What was your level when tested? 1000iu D3 (not D12) is just about a maintenance dose for someone with a decent level already, so it may not increase your level.

Are you also taking D3's important cofactors - D3 aids absorption of calcium from food and K2-MK7 directs the calcium to bones and teeth where it is needed and away from arteries and soft tissues where it can be deposited and cause problems such as hardening of the arteries, kidney stones, etc.

D3 and K2 are fat soluble so should be taken with the fattiest meal of the day, D3 four hours away from thyroid meds if taking tablets/capsules/softgels, no necessity if using an oral spray.

Magnesium helps D3 to work. We need Magnesium so that the body utilises D3, it's required to convert Vit D into it's active form. So it's important we ensure we take magnesium when supplementing with D3.

Magnesium comes in different forms, check to see which would suit you best and as it's calming it's best taken in the evening, four hours away from thyroid meds if taking tablets/capsules, no necessity if using topical forms of magnesium.

Check out the other cofactors too (some of which can be obtained from food).

Thanks SeasideSusie. My Vit D when tested almost a year ago was at the very bottom of the range. However it was December in the UK at the time. I was out and about outside a lot during the Spring and Summer so no doubt my levels did raise so the maintenance dose I’ve been taking since September should be ok. I do feel much better 🙂.

I have magnesium so I’ll start taking it after dinner with the Vit D spray, 5 hours from my thyroid meds.
