Low ferritin or hashis causing exhaustion? Any advice welcomed

Hi latest bloods are

Tsh 0.005 Range 0.27-4.2

Free T3 6.15 Range 3.1-6.8

Free Thyroxine 17.8 Range 12-22

Thyroglobulin antibodies 84.100 Range <115

Thyroid Perioxidase Antibodies 51.4 Range <34

This all looks ok ish my antibodies are raised but I’ve been exhausted, no energy at all

VitB 12 845. Range 200 - 883

Folate 6.8 Range 3.1 -20

Ferratin 20 Range 15- 200

I self inject vit b12 so that’s why numbers are good , however could low Ferratin be causing return of exhaustion symptoms ? My diet is healthy, I also have severe osteoporosis due to I think being an undiagnosed celiac and have been gluten free for many years.

Your Ferritin is very low in range. Low Ferritin can suggest iron deficiency anaemia so I would ask your GP to do a full blood count and an iron panel.

Your Folate would be better at least half way through range. As you inject B12, are you also taking a good B Complex to balance all the B vitamins?

No I only take B12 , do I need to take more b vitamins? I did not know that ! Will contact Gp and get results of fbc receptionist just said it was “normal” but as we know it may also be at the very low end where thyroid function is affected. I will ask to start on iron too, would ferrous sulphate bring levels up quickly?

I have read on here that iron tablets can take months to improve levels. If you take iron tablets then make sure you take each one with some Vit C to aid absorption and they need to be taken 4 hours away from thyroid meds and 2 hours away from any other medication and supplements. You can also eat liver, liver pate, black pudding and other iron rich foods to help improve level.

When taking B12 we should also take a B Complex to balance all the B vitamins.

folate is on the low side. Supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in not folic acid may be beneficial.

B vitamins best taken in the morning after breakfast

Igennus Super B complex are nice small tablets. Often only need one tablet per day, not two. Certainly only start with one tablet per day after breakfast. Retesting levels in 6-8 weeks

Or Thorne Basic B or jarrow B-right are other options that contain folate, but both are large capsules

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results

What about vitamin D?

Do you have results?

Presumably you supplement vitamin D?

Magnesium?

Or vitamin K2 Mk7?

Thank you so much for replies Yes I supplement with nutrition advanced vitamin D3 drops I keep in fridge, also Source Naturals products of magnesium malate Selenium and Triple boron.

I also take Nu U nutrition vit K 2 also has MK 7 in it

I am prescribed accrete D3 and calcium/cholecalciferol by the osteoporosis consultant but it’s not a lot of D 3 so recently I started taking the D3 drops too. Phew that’s it!

thank you had no idea about boron and blood test I’m fairly new to taking it.
