Low calcium

My doctors have just called to say they need to see me asap due to my blood tests showing low calcium. Is this caused by my thyroid or thyroid meds?

Could be caused by undermedicated thyroid. Could also be caused by mummy to 6! I had 3 children in 3 years and doctor was always keen to check for calcium depletion because of this.

First your previous post shows you were in need of 25mcg dose increase in Levothyroxine

Have you had Levothyroxine dose increased to 100mcg?

If GP still refusing to increase Levothyroxine then you need insist on referral to endocrinologist

TSH over 3

FT4 BELOW range

Low calcium is strongly linked to being vitamin D deficient

Low vitamin D extremely common when hypothyroid, as you currently are

GP should test Vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin

Have these been tested?

Just vitamin D - £29 via NHS postal kit

My last results weren’t correct. The doctor told me the wrong tsh and the receptionist gave me test results that were actually done in May 😕

The doctors haven’t checked my T3 or T4 but my tsh was 0.824 and the doctor wanted to lower me down to 50mcg but I argued it and he agreed to keep me on 75mcg. B12 has been tested and that was within range 859 range 187-883, ferritin was in range 29.7 range 10-204. I can’t see vitamin D anywhere on any of my results. I’ve just ordered some tests through medichecks, the full thyroid and vitamin test, I will check but I’m sure that covers vit D as well.

If you've ordered the Thyroid Check ULTRAVIT it does include Vit D.

If you've ordered the Thyroid Check ULTRA it doesn't include Vit D.

I checked and it is the ultravit one so it does check vit D.

Will it tell me if I have hashimotos?

It tests TPO and Tg antibodies and if these are raised it can suggest Hashi's.
