Increase T3 or T4, please?

Latest results 4 weeks ago on 100+20

Tsh 0.01

Ft3 6.0 (3.6-6.3)

Ft4 16(12-22)

Dr wanted me to lower levo from 100 to 75 (which I did). And T3 from 20 to 10 (which I didn't). I'm feeling worse more irritated, no energy to go running, more sad etc. My plan was to lower T4 and maybe increase T3 after a while. Dr said to have tests done after 6 weeks and it's been 4. Tests after 4 weeks show:

Tsh 0.01

Ft3 4.9(3.6-6.3)

Ft4 13 (12-22)

What's your advice? Increase T4 back up or increase t3?

Thanks!

If you felt well on 100 + 20, go back to that. Your FT4 and FT3 were good on that dose. It's just your stupid doctor having a hissy fit over the suppressed TSH. He doesn't understand that that is what happens when you take T3, and it happens for a reason: you don't need TSH!

I know I'm so sad that this happened. Haven't been a good mom nor wife since reduction. After this test she just wrote a letter to say reduce T3 by half and retest in 6 weeks!

If I were you I'd find another doctor. This one had no idea what she's doing. She's dangerous. She'll make you ill and keep you ill.

I would put the Levothyroxine back up and retest in 6-8 weeks

Many of us need good levels of FT4 and FT3

Ideally including vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 testing too

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water . This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

If/when also on T3, make sure to take last dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test

Is this how you do your tests?

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

Yes, that's how I've done the tests.

When on T3 TSH is almost always suppressed

Messing about, reducing dose often lowers vitamin levels and then TSH drops even lower
