Evening all. These are my Dad’s medichecks results. He has extreme fatigue, mind fog, memory loss and painful joints/numb feet. He has nodules on his thyroid. His brother is hypo, and so am I (although had to go to a private endo for my diagnosis) he is also on b12 injections.
The medichecks dr said thyroid was fine, (and vit D too low) but I am not convinced. Can anyone share their wisdom please?!
His TSH suggests that his thyroid is struggling to make enough hormone. His FT3 isn't too bad, at the moment, but his FT4 is a bit low.
Whilst advice from a Medichecks doctors is pretty worthless, it is a reflection of the attitude of GPs just about everywhere. None of them know much about thyroid. He's right that your dad's vit d is on the low side - so supplementing with vit D3, vit K2-MK7 and magnesium might make his feel a bit better - could relieve the aching muscles/joints - but he should also have said to keep an eye on thyroid levels, because the TSH could rise and Frees drop at any time.
Personally, I would avoid endos like the plague. But, if he can find a good, recommended private endo, that might be his best bet. The trouble is that private doesn't always mean more knowledgeable, because most endos do both private and NHS.
