Going from 1 grain NDT to 1 1/2 in 2 weeks

Hi everyone,

I know I'm being impatient, but would it be a huge issue to jump to 1 1/2 grains of NDT after 2 weeks instead of 1 1/4? I seem to have coped well with NDT so far.

You could try and if you feel 'overmedicated' drop back to your previous dose and wait another two weeks.

Thank you for answering me so quickly. I was concerned that the advice to increase by 1/4 grain every 2 weeks is written in stone and that I would be over-doing things by going up by a half.

I'll give it a try.

It really rather depends on your FT3 level. When did you last have that tested. In the beginning, jumping up by half a grain wouldn't be too serious. But, the higher your dose gets, the slower you should increase, or you risk over-shooting your sweet-spot - and you won't even know you have! Personally, I wouldn't risk it.

Thanks GG. I was thinking of trying it, as I'm now at 1 and I feel like nothing's happening.

I think I'm panicking because of the state of my hair. It seems to be shedding and frizzing up at an alarming rate for the last few months and getting worse by the day. My skin is awful and rough, too.

I have been under-medicated since I had tests done on 1.6.19 - I had stopped Metavive for 2 weeks before the test, then went back on it starting at 1. I began NDT 7 weeks ago.

What if I jumped to 1 1/2 then went back to increasing by 1/4?

I really can't say, because I don't know what your labs are on 1 grain. During that jump, you could jump over your sweet-spot.

I forgot to put my last results in the post - duh! My FT3 was 4.52 at the beginning of June. But that was on no meds. I have a test waiting at the GP's to pick up, which I'm hoping to do today. That was more recent.

OK, well, when you post those results - not forgetting the ranges! - people will be better able to help you. :)
