My daughters blood test results
From a thyroid point-of-view, that looks pretty good to me given the specified ranges.
Your daughter might want to increase her vitamin D and B12 levels slightly though.
What about the antibodies. I think the results are high
I'm not sure where you are - the ranges specified are different to those that are used where I am. However, the numbers even for the antibodies are "within range" for both what is shown on your daughters results and would also be within range for where I am. Lower is better, but unless your daughter has reason to think that she might have an auto-immune condition, I would not be too concerned. Is there any reason to think that she might have such a condition?
Yes, she has some cysts around thyroid gland. This test had be done at Cyprus
Ok, in that case hopefully one of the admins etc will respond, as they will have more knowledge about that than me.
Cyprus as in she was abroad?
She had a scan of her thyroid?
She had scan last year. Her home is at Cyprus where she is now. University is at Crete.
When she was abroad?
She is abroad only for her studies. She is going back to Crete on Monday.
Was wondering if it was an emergency that necessitated her getting the scan done while abroad.
She has a goitre?
What was the reason she had to get the scan done?
Yes, she had a goitre that was the reason for the scan.
It is said on this forum, that for some special cases where antibodies are normal but there are symptoms, Hashimoto's can be diagnosed via ultrasound. Have your daughter check this out.
Can she get folate and ferritin tested too
Her B12 and vitamin D are on low side
Greek Healthcare seems better than in UK
Marz may be able to advise on getting ultrasound scan of thyroid in Greece
Generally it seems much easier and much cheaper to get blood tests
At the moment she doesn't have high thyroid antibodies
But one in five Hashimoto's patients never have raised antibodies
