Naseeryousuf, I note you are a relatively new member and am sorry you have hypothyroidism.
You don't give any background about your thyroid health, i.e. when diagnosed? with what? I assume you are hypothyroid.
A Full Thyroid Function Test is those you have detailed above but you should include Free T3 as well as FT4 (free T4).
If you are a female and thinking of becoming pregnant then a TSH could be warranted.
A Full Thyroid Blood Test is TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies- and blood draw should be at the very earliest possible, fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between last dose of thyroid hormones (usually levothyroxine) and take it afterwards. This method gives the best results.
When giving results you must also include the ranges. Ranges are figures in brakets after the results and the reason for ranges is that labs differ in their machines and so ranges may also differ. Ranges enables members to comment upon your results.
Also test B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate have to be optimum.
shaws Neonatal TSH is surely the testing of a new born baby's TSH level, and not relevant to the OP as an adult.
I am 63 year old man. I am hypothyroide. I am on levothroxine 0.25
Mg dose.prvious my test result was
TSH 2 may 7.14
18 July 7.12
17 August 5.56
Range age (55 to 87 year) .5 to 8.90
Serum T3 1.19 RANGE( .6 to 2.79)
Serum ferritin 187 Range (22 to 322)
I am sorry you are hypothyroid especially as there are fewer men who develop it than females. I am not medically qualified but the aim of giving us levothyroxine, a small dose of 50mcg is usual with 25mcg increases every six weeks until TSH is 1 or lower. If someone has a heart condition they would be given 25mcg levothyroxine to start.
Once we are diagnosed as hypothyroid the usual starting dose, as stated, is 50mcg unless we have a problem with our heart when dose would probably be 25mcg with small increases of levothyroxine until TSH is 1 or lower.
Once we're diagnosed, the aim (I doubt doctors are aware) is a TSH of 1 or lower. We also need our Free T4 and Free T3 (rarely tested) to be towards the upper part of the ranges.
All blood tests for thyroid hormones should be at the very earliest possible, fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between your last dose of levothyroxine and the test and take it afterwards. This permits the TSH to be at its highest as it drops throughout the day and may mean you may not get the increase you need.
The aim is a TSH of 1 or lower with a Free T4 and Free T3 in the upper part of the ranges.
You also need tsted, B12, Vit D, iron and folate. I will add in SeasideSusie re your ferritin result.
