NDT Thiroyd - Batch no 1500057

It seems that there is either a dodgy batch of Thiroyd NDT (1000) tabs number 1500057 - either that or Greater Pharma have changed the formula. I have seen quite a few complaints of people feeling ill and undermedicated and they all have this same batch. I'm hoping it's a one off and the next batch will be ok. So if you take Thiroyd and don't feel as well as usual - check the batch number on the tub, I think we should be able to ask for a refund and if enough of us complain they should investigate what's gone wrong.

Thanks - people were complaining about this batch a few months ago so they are still around.

I have the next batch - 1500008 - has there been any issues with that? I ask as I've just had a strangely high TSH reading, though ft3 and ft4 are OK. I feel OK, i guess. but I had started wondering if my new batch was slightly different from the previous one I had.

Do the tablets have a hard white coating or are they quite soft to melt quite easily in the mouth? The hard coating was the only physical difference I could see. I'm hoping Greater Pharma haven't messed around with the formula - have written to them but not sure when/if I'll get an answer. Haven't heard of any issues with other batches but it takes a while for them to get around and people may not be on this forum or in this country.

I wouldnt say these have a coating at all - they are chalky looking and I usually swallow them whole so dont know about their melt-ability :). They are just like the last batch I bought a year ago. If the ones you have, have a hard white coating, that does sound odd.

These are definitely Thiroyd, in a large canister of 1000 pills.

I haven't noticed any difference in their appearance or texture. I crush mine anyway but not found that these are any more difficult to crush or any change in taste. Time will tell though I suppose!

Hi, this is the batch I had been taking 1500008 and my tsh has gone through the roof, 34.3 a few weeks ago. I’m back on levo due to being unable to find a reliable source of ndt. Hope it works out better for you.

Wow, you must have been feeling awful. It's a constant battle to get well - good luck.

My batch number is 1500058, but I haven't opened it yet as I still have a month or so left on my current bottle. I'll try it in the morning, though, and let you guys know if it is hard or soft. The batch numbers while different, are a little too similar for my piece of mind.

My last one (soft) was 1500055 - pretty sure they make a lot of each batch. The hard coating may not mean they are bad but I'd be interested to know.

i hope not as I have 2000 of them! Not had any issues so far though.

Well, I can confirm that batch 1500058 also has a much firmer outside. I had to crunch it up like chalk, and while there is a hint of flavour, it is more subtle. I hope they still perform as the old Thiroyd does!!

Let's hope so - not a fan of the chalky flavour but could put up with it if it works!

Are you feeling ok with this batch?

No - I've gone back to my old batch as these ones don't work for me. I don't know if the formula has changed but something is different - are you on these too?

Me too because that is my batch number and I’ve just started them I hope they work, good luck to us all!

Good luck! Please let me know either way, thanks

Don't know if relevant but I take Thyroid S which has a hard coating but I've seen recently two posts saying this is because it's slow release and thinking about it it works well for me as never conscious of a dip. So just wondering if Thiroyd have done the same. May be a question to ask them?

Hi Gigi,

How did you get on with this batch? Did it work for you and did you notice any difference?

Gigi216 profile image
Gigi216 in reply to PastelOak

Hi I have done well so far they do seem to be a little weaker, I normally take 2 grains and need 3 of this but other than that no complaints

Hey guys, has anyone who’s used this particular batch (1500057) of Thiroyd by Greater Pharma felt alright whilst on it? I’m interested in knowing if it’s the whole batch that’s spoiled, or just some unlucky ones in this batch.

Might be an idea to start a new thread. I was one of the unlucky ones as they didn't work for me. I managed to get an earlier batch but not sure where to go after these run out as they are not making them anymore :(
