Has anyone had one of these? I've had two fnas, first came back thy1 insufficient and second thy1c mainly cystic and insufficient so I'm now having a core needle biopsy as my nodule is a u3 indeterminate so the consultant wants to get a definitive result. I just wondered how people found the procedure?
Thanks

I haven’t had that procedure myself, but from what I have read, it is more precise than the FNA but may still not give you a firm result. The likelihood for a firm diagnosis is greater, but just be prepared that you still may not have a definitive answer. Apparently, there could be cancer in the adjoining area that does not get sampled by the needle. And of course, 95% of nodules are benign, so the chances are you will be fine.
I hope all goes well and you do get a firm answer one way or the other. All the best. 🤗
Thanks greekchick 😁 it's been feeling like the longest process. My consultant has said if it's still non diagnostic or indeterminate I will probably have another formal ultrasound to see if there are any changes then worst case half of thyroid out to be sure. Getting sick of all the prodding around now!
Fingers crossed itll give me something other than insufficient at the very least!
I will keep my fingers crossed for you too and throw in a prayer as well. Wishing you all the best. Keep us posted here - want to know how you are doing.
I had it done recently for possible thyroid cancer recurrence and I did not have ENT do this procedure I went to radiology department that does biopsies on all body parts ...it was uncomfortable but not traumatic they numb me pretty darn good although I could still feel the pushing still not bad.
I'm fine and yes your correct it is a little bit more invasive then fine needle aspiration on me they made a little cut I mean little no stitches required and put the needle in which is larger then the FNA.
