Hello thyroid gurus looking for some advice, currently on 50 mcg of T4 and 37.5 mcg of T3
Just ordered some NDT as my skin/ hair has been suffering felt best when I was on it, wondering if I should start on 2 grains a day? Previously been on much higher doses of T4/T3 and NDT- starting all over again , thanks

Have you got recent results to add from on this dose?
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
If/when also on T3, make sure to take last dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test
how do you take your T3? As 2 or 3 split doses ?
Important to have optimal vitamin levels
Previous post showed vitamin D rather low at 66nmol
Hello I’ve not got my latest blood test results I need to pick them up from the drs but in April this year I had some bloods done
TSH 2.80 mU/L normal range 0.35 -5.00
Free T4 <5.0 pmol/L normal range 9.0-21.00
Total T3 2.1 nmol /L normal range 0.9-2.5
I was only on 50 mcg of T3 at the time (April)and was trying to convince the endo to give me t4 he/she wrote to my dr and said no to T4 I was fine on T3 only- they seemed to think a tiny amount of T4 was going to make me hyper 🧐 i then said if I drop my t3 to 37.5 can I have 50 mcg of T4 which they agreed to.

Is this how you did this test?
TSH is likely too high
FT4 is extremely low, well below range
Total T3 result not very helpful
You need FT3 tested
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random
Always test vitamin levels BEFORE starting any supplements
Especially iron or vitamin D. These are toxic if you don't need them
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
