Coconut youghurt

Just wanted members advice. I eat coconut youghurt with fruit for breakfast 1 hour after taking my levo. I'm aware it contains calcium and that you should leave 4hrs after levo before having calcium but does that just apply to calcium supplements or everything that contains calcium ?? Just after some clarification. Many thanks

If you cut out everything containing calcium, there wouldn't be much left to eat. No, it's four hours between calcium supplements and levo. The amount of calcium in one yoghurt wouldn't amount to much. :)

I eat coconut yogurt with fruit as well. One of the best breakfasts for me with all that healthy fat.

sorry to contradict but i think the exception would be if the yogurt is fortified w a high amount of calcium and more or less does the job of a calcium supplement. (i’ve seen almond milks that provide almost 40% daily calcium in one serving!) in that case might be best to wait, unless you eat high calcium foods for bfast very consistently and the decreased absorption is already taken into account when you get your thyroid levels tested.

I agree. Usually, a few hours after consuming my DTE, I drink organic almond milk. Some brands have a lot more calcium than the one I use. Always have to read labels.

I used to eat either cottage cheese or porridge with milk for breakfast for all my life until the endocrinologist who diagnosed me with hypothyroidism told me to avoid any dairy 4 hours after taking levo. My breakfast is eggs and ham now :).

I just read an interesting scientific paper that taking meds at bedtime (if on empty stomach of course) is better than am as it has all night to get absorbed. Also gut transit time slows at night so it has longer to be absorbed.

The only issue with that for me is you have to leave 4 hours after your last meal. Due to the fact I go to bed early as I'm up early for work it's a no go for me.
