Yah - great to hear from you - been wondering how you were getting on. Hope your levo kicks in soon and you feel tons better. How do you communicate, do you speak Spanish or do your doctors speak English?

Anyway, get well soon.

Hi liz the doctors all speak english thankfully as my spanish is not that good, all hospital staff were great even allowing hubby to stay in with me, still feeling a bit tired even after 12 hours sleep last night

You're bound to be tired after the operation and I think a general anaesthetic can take a while to get over. Sleeping will do you so much good. Be kind to yourself, Liz x

Remember there is rarely a quick fix - try not to get too upset if progress feels slow. Be extra kind to yourself, forgive yourself anything at all and let others fend for themselves. I had my TT in Jan and have only just found my feet the last few weeks, the worst thing is the worrying - so just don't do it.

Rest well and take great care.

Thanks i would love a quick fix, but i know thats not going to happen, my hubby is getting frustrated with me because he does not understand why i am still tired and needing 12 hours sleep, why i have no energy to do the things we used to do, and he thinks the surgery is my miracle cure,

Regards linda

I think that everyone will understand this problem. Once I had my surgery my friends and family were all convinced that was the end of the problem, somehow deep down, I knew it was just the beginning. My husband tried so hard but every so often a comment would sound (still does sometimes) like criticism and I have to fight not to get very upset. Interestingly he has a bad back at the moment and after one week he is thinking that I cannot understand the frustration of not being able to get on with things!! I would love to point out the obvious.

I found myself avoiding situations where people would ask 'how I was' and this has lead to a quieter life but if there is a plus side to all of this (and at your stage you may not see this yet) I now have a much greater understanding of how people can suddenly end up with a life they never asked for or deserved and just how much injustice there is. Trouble is not sure what to do with this new-found understanding.

Avoidance of stress is so important and so if you can at all, do try to find a way to take your rest without feeling bad. I used to say quite simply 'that on medical grounds' I should not be expected to be seen before 10am and if (like this afternoon) when I needed to go back to sleep - I used the same 'medical grounds' to take a nap in the garden. I invite those around me to get on with their lives and being busy but ask them to please excuse me until my life is back on track.

Anyway I had best go and look sympathetic about the back!

Take care
