Hypothyroid and throat pain on good level of NDT

I'm hypothyroid and take NDT (2.5 + 1/8 grain) every morning one hour before breakfast and any supplements. My latest blood test results are:

FT4: 12.4 ( 12.8 - 20.4 )

FT3: 5.2 ( 4.0 - 6.8 )

TSH: 0.06 ( 0.4 - 3.8 )

I still have many problems even though the bloods look good. I have tried taking 2.75 grains for four months a little while ago and seemed to get anxiety attacks and weird wiry feeling. My results then showed I was quite over the max of FT3, which probably explains the weird wired feeling:

FT4: 16.6 ( 12.8 - 20.4 )

FT3: 7.1 ( 4.0 - 6.8 )

TSH: 0.04 ( 0.4 - 3.8 )

In any case, my question is some days, especially with heavy activity the day before (playing soccer), I feel that my lower front neck (exactly where the thyroid gland is) is tender to the touch. I've had a goiter many years ago before taking medication and this is a similar feeling without much of an actual enlargement. I know that when there is a goiter it means the thyroid gland is trying to work extra hard to make thyroid hormones.

Has anyone had this and is there an explanation for this?

Could it be that my body is signalling for even more thyroid that I'm already taking even though my blood tests show reasonably good results? It could be why I don't feel much improvement on the thyroid medication alone...

I'm between a rock and a hard place, because as per above, I've already tried taking more NDT and it had a weird effect (and the bloods showed too much FT3), so I'm not sure I want to go there again. Another possibility is thyroid cancer I suppose. Perhaps I should get checked out for it? It's only sometimes that I get this feeling though (once every couple of weeks perhaps).

Have you had your thyroid antibodies Checked? You went from under mid range ft3 to over range with just 1/8 grain increase.... I thought I was sensitive when that happened with 1/4 grain dose increase and decrease back to low in range. I fluctuated quiet a lot for over a year and never found out why... Sorry. Just wondered if you have hashis, maybe causing fluctuation.

Yes, ages ago I had some antibodies, but I've been taking more than enough replacement thyroid to make my gland be completely turned off. That is why this is puzzling. It's like the thyroid is trying to come back to life for some reason...

Some people need above range Free T3 to feel well. This is normally due to a genetic condition, Thyroid Hormone Resistance. If you have any family history of thyroid or autoimmune conditions it would support this possibility.
