Ive ordered the medichecks test kit. I know I should I wait until after to start taking supplements, but I’m just wondering what to get?
Looking at B-100 complex, boost b12 oral spray, and B5. Am I missing anything? I get my Vit D prescribed so am hoping to get that increased with the GP.
Sorry for all the posts lately, I’m finally taking control of my health instead listening to the ‘professionals’!!
Thank you
Shelley

Ok thanks guys, I appreciate the replies. I have bought an oral Vit D spray though- it’s equivalent to 3000iu. I think it’s the same company as those that make the oral Vit B12 spray.
SeasideSusie - with regards to the b100, in what way do you mean they aren’t well balanced? Don’t they contain a 100mg of all the required b vitamins? It was recommended on the website link I was sent about sleep and vit d on my previous post 🤷🏻♀️ What is a B complex that is recommended?? I know, I will wait until my results are back, but either way I will be buying a good B complex supplement, so I would like to get it right, last thing I want is spending even more money I don’t really have on supplements and vitamins that aren’t going to be much use anyway!! 🙈🤯

Taking one B100 supplement at random, % figure is the % of nutrient reference value and those with ** there is no nutrient reference value for that ingredient
Per recommended serving:
PABA 100mg **
Thiamin (B1) 100mg = 9,091%
Riboflavin (B2) 100mg = 7,143%
Niacin (B3) 100mg = 625%
Pantothenic Acid (B5) 100mg = 1,667%
Vitamin B6 100mg = 7,143%
Vitamin B12 100μg = 4,000%
Folic Acid (B9) 400μg = 200%
Biotin (B7) 100μg = 200%
Choline Bitartrate 100mg **
Inositol 100mg **
The percentage of nutrient reference values of the B vitamins are, with the exception of folic acid and biotin, massively high.
Long term high dose of B6 can cause nerve damage, amongst other things, and it's recommended to take no more than 10mg daily on a regular basis.
Compare this with one of the brands regularly suggested here - Thorne Basic B - no percentages as it is a US brand with Daily Value rather than the UK Nutrient Reference Value - per recommended serving:
Thiamin (B1) 110 mg.
Riboflavin (B2) 10 mg.
Niacin (B3) 140 mg.
Vitamin B6 (as Pyridoxal 5'-Phosphate) 10 mg.
Folate (B9) 400 mcg
Vitamin B12 400 mcg.
Biotin (B7) 400 mcg.
Pantothenic Acid (B5) 110 mg.
Choline (as Choline Citrate) 28 mg.
or Igennus Super B, another one recommended here - per recommended serving:
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) 160mg
Vitamin B3 (nicotinamide) 48mg
Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) 36mg
Vitamin B1 (thiamine) 20mg
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxal-5-phosphate) 20mg
Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) 14mg
Vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) 900mcg
Folate ([6S]-5-methyltetrahydrofolate) 400mcg
Vitamin B7 (biotin) 300mcg
I think you can see that the B100 goes way over the top of what's necessary for a lot of their individual vitamins.
Wow! Yes it does!! Thank you so much! I will get one of those brands instead, I’ll have a look into them now- do you have a preference, is one better than the other, do you think?
I’m at the tail end of migraine no3 this week so at the moment, the screen is hurting my head and eyes and I’m not able to concentrate on the values properly. I will have another read in the morning.
I used Thorne Basic B and it raised my Folate from bottom of range to top of range in 2.5 months, my B12 wasn't as low as yours but it took it to top of range also.
I now use a wholefood B Complex with the same amount of Folate as Thorne but a much lower amount of B12 as I don't need to increase that.
Some people like the Igennus, at the recommended serving (2 tablets) it has the same amount of Folate as Thorne but a higher dose of B12.
Finally feeling like my head isn’t so full of cotton wool, although it’s still a bit muddled! After looking at the values you’ve stated and doing a bit of research, I think the Thorne one is the one I may go for, it has the B6 at the recommended daily dose whereas the igennus is 20mg, making it double the recommended safe daily dose. Even though the B12 is lower, I am hoping I can get the recovery shots from the GP for some time to get my B12 where I need it to be, meaning the supplement will just top it up.
Thank you so much for your reply, apologies I couldn’t reply properly before now.
