The FDA carried out a study into the multi-billion $$$'s worth of drugs carried by the US forces. They found that even at 15 yrs after their expiry date there were many that were still safe and effective, and in fact they believed would continue to be so beyond 15 yrs but that's when they stopped testing. Obviously a few meds are most definitely time limited and especially sensitive to temperature, humidity etc, but many of tablets can persist indefinitely in their original containers. I've just been taking 2018-dated Levo for instance, with no problem at all; and I routinely use OTC things (and food) well beyond their date. Apart from the drugs that are acknowledged as being time-sensitive, dating is more about giving a more or less arbitrary date for lay people to go by, rather than being indicative of the drug suddenly stopping being effective or becoming unsafe. I have a stock of Thybon Henning from when I was buying it myself, and I'm not at all worried about the date.
One of the pharmacists involved advises "Probably the worst place in the world to store drugs is in your bathroom medicine cabinet. The worst possible place you can keep any medications is in a wet, hot environment. It’s the worst area to maintain stability. A cool, dry place is best to store drugs.”
His other important quote is "The FDA did this and found basically that the expiration dates tended to be very conservative, and as a result, many of these drugs could have a much longer shelf life than the manufacturers said.”
I have taken out-of-date tabs before. They are not going to be full potency one day and none the next. Just be mindful of the possible decline that you may not ordinarily notice because you might be declining also with the pills ....... until suddenly you realise you are hugely under-medicated and that is horrid. 🙂
Yes that's a good point. I think I'd notice any decline, as I was so ill for a few years before I got on to T3. Those symptoms are ingrained in my brain!
I'm currently using Cynomel with an expiry of 10/2018. I have no doubts that they are safe to use and definitely not aware of any change in potency yet.
I've been using all the bits of t3 that I've been cutting since they stopped my t3. I noticed a decline but I think that's because they had been cut but this was mainly bad batches from mp as I found a 3 year old batch with cut bits in as well and the potency was def there. Pepped me right up! X
Are they cytomel by Pfizer as mine expired Feb 2019 and I still took some the other day and they are fine.
Yes, they are precious. I did read that John c Lowe and Dr peatfield said just stock em up if you're lucky enough to get them because they're fine after expectation date. So it's from the horse's mouth.
I bought a supply which will be over a year out of date by the time I use them. I bought to future proof myself whilst on holiday. Had a wee chat with the pharmacist and he agreed to supply me. After widely reading, I'm confident they will be absolutely fine. I stored them in their original packaging in another box in a dry, cool area of the house.
