Out of Date T3?

I have some Tiromel 25mcg L-Triiodotironin Sodyum bought from Hong Kong a few years ago. The name on the box is Abdi Brahim. Has anyone used this brand?

And, it's now 2 years out of date. Would you use T3 out of date by 2 years?

Not sure why I kept it so long. Also not sure about the brand. I think it might be Turkish.

Yes, Tiromel is Turkish T3 made by Abdi Ibrahim. Tiromel is used by many members.

Personally, I would use 2 year old T3. It might be weaker than in date tablets, but I'd use them if I didn't have anything else.

Thank you. It means I can cut them in quarters and try adding the 5mcg T3 to my Levo that you were helping me with yesterday. I do have a lot of them, so if it works I get my use from the money spent and if they don't work I've saved myself a new outlay.

I'd definitely use 2 yrs old T3 without a second thought, if the alternative was no T3.

That's great news. I need to try adding just 5mcg to my Levo. So if I use these I don't have to spend more just to try. It will be slightly more than 5mcg of course, but close.

Thank you.

I think Tiromel is made in 25 mcg. So a quarter would be 6.25 mcg. There was a study done on medicine found in a bunker thirty years later. It had not deteriorated much and was fine to use. I tend to think of it like best before dates. It won’t do any harm. Hopefully you’ve kept it in a cold dark place, so it will keep most of its potency.

Let us know how you get on please 😁

The tablets are blister packed too, so I think it will be fine. It's been cool and dark and in it's original shipping box too.

I know a quarter will be 6.25 not 5mcg. Not quite sure if I should reduce my T4 a bit or not. Still dithering on that one. Daren't start tomorrow anyway as we are going out to a show and I don't want to wreak it by feeling awful if it doesn't agree with me.

If you write a new post requesting that info - maybe do it tomorrow as it’s getting late now for answers.

You may already know but put: a summary of how when you were Diagnosed. The amount of T4 you take and your latest blood test results with dates and ranges. We’ll be able to advise.

I just need to make my mind up. If you see the top of this thread the current dosing and test results are there. SSS has said I don't need to reduce. GG said I could, or not. So it's up to me.

I haven't been feeling good much at all on 125mcg but didn't think it could be a Levo issue as I felt I had more symptoms, very dry skin, fingers fraying and thumbs splitting and an eyebrow seems to have shrunk again. But perhaps the jump from 100 to 125 was too much. Bloods don't seem to show that, but who knows. I also started a blood pressure pill a few weeks ago that seems to have increased my symptoms a bit. Certainly feeling more tired. After I got my test results at the end of the week I did increase by 12.5mcg Levo to 137.5 and I've felt worse the past couple of days. I think I need to drop the Levo a bit. I might take it down to 112.5 and hold it for the week, see how I feel, and try adding in the T3 next weekend when I don't have anything on.

Oops! This is my second post of the weekend. My results and doses and history are in my other post. Sorry.

I have quite a stock of T3 bought in France when I lived there. Sanofi is the maker and it's called Cynomel. It depends on how bad you feel. The stock I have is about 1 year old. I would use it anyway but it depends, it's your decision.

Not what you're looking for?
