Hi All ,

I am new to this group and have no idea about thyroid disorders . I am going through the posts and learning more. I have pernicious anemia and I am par of PAS group. I was suggested to get in touch here as some of my symptoms are not improving with b12 injections for long time. I have attached my test results. Are the results suggestive of any autoimmune thyroid (Hashimoto or graves). I also recently started developing vitiligo and I was informed that the autoimmune diseases are interlinked .

Thanks in advance...

Also I had very low vitamin D(8) ,vitamin B12 (102) , normal ferritin and folate levels. I had very high igE 511(<100) at the time of diagnosis in October 2018 for PA. I don’t have anemia but have neurological symptoms and whole pains and hot flashes.

The neurological symptoms will be due to the PA, and hot flashes could be caused by hypo. But, I don't know what 'whole pains' are. :)

Well, you certainly don't have Grave's with a TSH of 2.68. With Grave's your TSH would be suppressed, and your FT4/3 extremely high.

To know if you have Hashi's, you need your TPO antibodies and Tg antibodies tested. They are not mentioned on that report. But, it is true that autoimmune diseases do hunt in packs, so if you have PA and vitiligo, you really should be tested for Hashi's. :)

Thanks greygoose. I will do the autoantibodies tests. Is there any treatment for vitiligo as it just started with a small patch and to stop spreading or should I have to live with it.

I'm afraid I know nothing about vitiligo, so can't help you there. :)

Vitiligo may improve once you start on Thyroid hormones, assuming you do have Hashimoto's

Regular retesting vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 - these all need to be at optimal levels with thyroid disease

How low was vitamin D?

What were actual results on folate and ferritin?

As you have PA you may benefit from a daily good quality vitamin B complex, one with folate in not folic acid may be beneficial.

B vitamins best taken in the morning after breakfast

Recommended brands on here are Igennus Super B complex. (Often only need one tablet per day, not two. Certainly only start with one tablet per day after breakfast. Retesting levels in 6-8 weeks ).

Or Jarrow B-right is popular choice, but is large capsule

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results

Trying strictly gluten free diet may help improve vitiligo

Gluten is frequently (almost always) an issue with Hashimoto's too

How low was vitamin D and how much vitamin D was prescribed?

Frequently GP prescribes too low a dose

Vitamin D should be retested again after 2-3 months on vitamin D supplements
