Teva struggle update and more

A while ago, I told of my concerns about the Teva brand adversely affecting my thyroid. Eventually, I found a pharmacist who listened to me and now I have another brand. My concern now is that many of you speak of being tested for free T3 and T4. I can only presume that you live in America as I have never been made aware of this. I only have my TSH result which is 2,5...is this high? Thank you in anticipation x

Hi , I didn't know anything about it either until I joined this group I live in the UK my previous GP was reluctant but willing after 3 requests to add these tests for me but my new gp hasn't so far but you can pay privately through links on here and get a discount and have the Ft3 and Ft4 tested , i have used medichecks in the past it's a simple process get your gp to draw the bloods then post them off in the kit provided and results took 7 days and were available online, 😁

No not at all, we're mainly in the UK, but many of us have to go down the route of having private testing carried out. Generally, as is your experience, the labs used by the NHS follow the protocol of testing only the TSH unless it returns an abnormal result, in which case then the FT4 is tested. Only if the FT4 returns an abnormal result with FT3 be tested. Many of use use the labs listed here

I live just outside glasgow and my nhs GP has always tested for ft3 and ft4 along with tsh. Ive had 3 or 4 blood tests for my thyroid so far and everyone of them has been for tsh, ft3 and ft4.

The only ones they forget to do for me are the antibody tests which they said they would do for my 2nd bloodtest but they never did

As you've already tested positive for Hashimoto's disease with an extremely elevated TG Ab, you don't need to retest your antibodies.
