I’ve just seen my Gp about high ferritin level that showed u on my private Medichecks results.
Anyway, we looked through some recent results from hospital blood tests and one thing jumped out at me which was Parathyroid level of 7.03 it was highlighted in red.
Does anyone know what this means?
Another thing is, I had a DEXA scan in April and it’s showing no osteoporosis now but still osteopenia ( previous scan 2 years ago showed osteoporosis)
Gp said DEXA result this time was better than previous one.
So could this be due to me being on combo t4/t3
He has agreed for me to increase t3 slightly as it’s still not quite mid range.
I’d be grateful if someone could tel me about the parathyroid result

I'm not medically trained, but have seen the PTH (parathyroid hormone) range as 1.6 - 6.9 pmol/L for normal serum calcium levels. Supplementing biotin can affect the test result. Your serum calcium level is necessary, to interpret the PTH test result.
The calcium test is included in the Bone Profile blood tests, which are standard, so shouldn't require a hospital visit. A series of out of range serum calcium results should trigger a PTH test (I just got a stern talking to!), which may be why you had it, though maybe the hospital saw one out of range result and decided to get it done sooner rather than later.
I had multiple blood tests as was seeing a rheumatologist about muscle pain in my upper back so maybe that’s why the parathyroid was checked along with loads of others.
