I'm just curious if it influences how you feel and if it helps anxiety.
There are people here who are taking antidepre... - Thyroid UK
There are people here who are taking antidepressants with (ndt)natural desiccated thyroid?
Thanks for the reply, as I said it's about anxiety. I'm struggling with anxiety (morning anxiety, after I take the pill). If i swap from levo+t3 on ndt, anxiety should have gone or I need to take antidepressants?
On Tirosint (levo) +15mcg T3 my levels are good but I have to deal with anxiety & energy about 2 hours after ingestion and it vanish at noon, like a wave. I take vit D3, vit C 1000 , B12 and metformin. I took Glycinate in the past but it seem not help me. I not take iron pills or multi vitamins. Maybe my adrenals are the problem.
Hey, it happened to me, my body was struggling to take so much t3 in one go at the time , but that was my situation . Have you tried splitting the dose? Or taking t4 at night , t3 during day?
Hi cupofcha, yes I split my T3 dose in 3(5+5+5mcg).Itake levo in the morning.
ok, thank you so much.
hipolion
Sorry to hear you are still struggling after RAI.
Your previous posts show you have switched thyroid meds several times in the last year. Thyroid hormone replacement requires adequate iron and nutrients to work well, and discourage adverse reactions & intolerance.
Iron is particularly important, and when low can cause anxiety in people medicating thyroid hormone replacement.
Also, balancing cortisol levels that may have become constantly elevated through supporting low thyroid hormone or meds that are intolerated. Cortisol is an adrenal hormone that is secreted in times of physical or mental stress.
Are you supporting adrenal glands ?
Have you had ferritin, folate, Vit D & Vit B12 tested ?
Hi radd, as I said I have problems with my vision, after I take T3 my the sight becomes sharp and then becomes blurred. In the morning my energy is ok but in the afternoon everything turns in fatigue & brain fog. I have to deal with anxiety & energy about 2 hours after ingestion the lovo+5mcg T3. I take vit D3, vit C 1000 , B12 and metformin. For adrenal support I thought of taking AC adrenal cortex extract from Thorne. In the past I did a salivary cortisol test and the morning value was at the middle of the range and low-middle in the afternoon.
hipolion,
T4's biological half-life is approx seven days and T3's about twenty-four hours. A single dose of T3 (taken on an empty stomach) is rapidly absorbed, reaching peak circulating concentration in about two to three hours after ingestion ... about the same time that you are describe experiencing "anxiety & energy".
Medicating Levo & T3 will give you much more control over T3 dose titivation than NDT that contains a set amount. Have you tried splitting your T3 dose into 3 or four minute amounts ? Say, starting at 2.5mcg T3 every day taken with your usual Levo dose for a week and holding at this 2.5mcg amount until adrenaline rushes stop. This could take a week or two or longer.
And then increasing only by 2.5mcg every week, dividing doses, holding or reducing back to previous dose if adrenaline rushes come back, so continuing only raising when no ill side effects are felt.
Obviously your T3 levels are going to drop and you will feel symptomatic but I have read that some have needed to do this to get their body's T3 acceptance when either adrenals are compromised or iron is too low.
The continual switching of meds and doses will not have helped your adrenals but because you say your cortisol levels weren't that elevated or low, if I were you I would be looking to possible inadequate iron levels as the reason of your T3 intolerance as anxiety and jittery feelings are common in people with low iron who introduce thyroid hormone replacement.
Sups - If you are supplementing VitB12, you should be supplementing a B complex to keep vits balanced. Have you had Vit B12 tested ?
Vit C is excellent for adrenals. I supplement 3g of mixed ascorbate powder daily.
I myself don't get on with glandulars but many do, and if you wanted to try, your suggestion is good as AC Adrenal Cortex Extract from Thorne doesn't contain adrenaline.
What about folate levels, as this works together with Vit B12 and makes iron work better ?
Have you got recent ferritin results to post ?
You might want to start to support your adrenals with vitamin "C" , magnesium , B-5 , and you might want to have your DHEA-S levels tested via BW and adrenal/cortisol levels via 24 hour salivary test .
Splitting T3 doses can be very helpful for some too . You might want to try that . Split the 5mcg 1/2 AM and the other 1/2 in the afternoon . And see how you feel with that . Little tweaks can make a huge difference .
