Did anyone else watch the Dr on This Morning - I could not believe she said it takes a few blood tests to get Thyroxine levels right - then that was you fine!! Has she ever spoken to an under active patient who is struggling? She is probably like the rest & just doesn’t hear us 😡
This Morning‼️: Did anyone else watch the Dr on... - Thyroid UK
This Morning‼️
It infuriates me! If you go on This morning's FB page, people are saying it's not the case. For me it's symptoms when I'm under active, symptoms when over and having an autoimmune disorder...all three things affect you...it's not a normal life!
Thyroid fluctuates daily & it can take quite a few blood tests to diagnose hyperthyroidism/hypothyroidism. After many thyroid function tests I was told there was nothing wrong, however, I felt so ill I was rushed to hospital where I had to have 7/8ths of my thyroid gland removed because it was so hyperactive that my heart rate was so high.
A friend just shared this on Facebook, so I thought I'd see what had been said here (link if anyone else wishes to watch: player.stv.tv/video/7t81/th... )
She really doesn't understand the condition at all! At least the doctor didn't sound particularly confident talking about it, so hopefully people won't take her too seriously!
That programme is only for viewers in Scotland unfortunately. I tried putting my postcode in and that was what I was told. Then it said that it may be on the ITV player, but I doubt that it will be as it was an STV production.
The thing is millions are fine on levo and yes that’s all they need. I was one of those people and did well for 15 yrs under my old doctor until I moved and an ignorant doctor started me on a downhill journey that I’m still fighting 12 yrs on. But it wasn’t the levo that caused my problems it was an inept and ignorant doctor. We need to re-educate the medical profession to treat the patient not the number on the screen
Yes , she made it seem as simple as you take a pill and all is ok , life returns to normal! Well 50 years with hypothyroidism and taking a pill and my life has not been a healthy normal journey. I tweeted her Twitter account and told her she was completely irresponsible saying what she said! We have a hard enough time be listened to by family, friends, colleagues, employers & doctors without this silly doctor belittling our thyroid journey by saying “take a pill & everything’s ok”🤬
