Need adv. got appt this morning 9:50 going about possible Thyroid issue.

My last TSH was Feb 15 4mu/L ref range 0.35/5mu/l it did go to 4.3 in July 13. I have PA (IF positive) vit d is 30 on treatment for vit d and b12 jabs every 8 was. I have scappolled tongue hair thinning, sweats, sleep all over the place, no periods for 3 years (age 47) weight gain, muscle weakness, cold feet and hands all the time. I have a feeling that gp will say it a menapause and dismiss Thyroid! Any adv before appt would be good. Thank you.

If you have PA then Hashimotos needs to be ruled out. Both auto-immune 😊

Hi Marz, I’ve got a blood test for Thyroid function and %THYR Thyroid Antibodies. Is there something to look out for when the results come back. ? Thank you.

Depends what they test for in the Thyroid Function Test. Usually only TSH and occasionally the FT4. FT3 rarely done - and the most important one. TPO Anti bodies are tested in the NHS but not Anti-Tg.

TSH around 1 or under if on treatment and FT4 near the upper part of the range.

How are your other vitamins and minerals - Folate - Ferritin - VitD ? When you have your results start a new thread so more people see them ....

Ok thanks. Last vit d was 35 now taking 5000 a day of vit d. Folate I think was mid range and ferritin mode range. I take 300mg ferrous gluconate for iron anaemia.

Are you taking the co-factors for the VitD ? Magnesium - VitK2-MK7 ? Is the Ferrous Gluconate improving your Iron levels ? I have read that VitC aids absorption of iron - from both supplements and food.

Living in Crete - I still take 10,000 IU's VitD in the winter months to keep my levels at a good level. Maybe have yours tested again at the end of winter to see where you are .... needs to be around 100 :-)

Just noticed you had some tests done two months ago - do you have those results ?

I wish I had but alas no results- gone somewhere but nobody can give me any answers as yet. Hence appt today. I have Vitilgo and the bloods I had done 2 months ago my skin consultant requested but I got no results back.

You are entitled to have copies of all your results - legally. Vitiligo is auto-immune too - and I think I mentioned to you in another thread of yours that it was something I suffered with before being treated for Hashimotos. Maybe contact the Secretary for the Dermatologist and request your results with ranges - for whatever was tested. Good Luck :-)

Hi Marz I’m just going to wait now for these bloods to come back and when I see skin specialist in March I’ll ask what came of the tests he did... I think I will end up seeing an endocrinologist!

From my reading here for over six years - a good Endo is like hens teeth 😊 They are mostly diabetes experts ! Far better to post your results in a new thread and ask for advice ... with over 70.000 members there is so much knowledge and experience to share ....
