Hope this is ok,

My partner is 15 weeks pregnant and she has suffered bad morning sickness along with indigestion and actually being sick quite regular. She is finding it hard to eat, and if she does keep it down.

Is there anything you guys that you would recommend to help?

She is going to contact the local GP tomorrow, but we are away Saturday for Christmas so I am not sure if she will be seen before then.

Thank you.

Ginger tablets, ginger tea are both good. I use Piping Rock Ginger capsules which are very good but I doubt you will get them this side of Christmas now. You might find something else in Holland and Barrett until they arrive.

Hope she feels better soon.

Putting on travel bands a half hour before attempting to get out of bed.

Eating and drinking tiny bits often.

I’m really sorry to hear this. It happened to me. I would recommend that you get in touch straight away with the charity Pregnancy Sickness Support. GPs can be quite dismissive so get the information you need before you visit. I hope they can give you the guidance you need.

Sucking ice cubes instead of drinking water can help, tiny sponge cakes that I could nibble helped eventually. I’m sorry to tell you that the sickness might not go until the baby’s born so get all the help you can.

I had this too. I don’t think anything really helps apart from anti-emetic prescription drugs so I think she does need to see the GP and discuss - if she becomes malnourished it may be necessary (and they are safe). I feel for her as it’s absolutely rotten. Mine was severe but was gone by 20 weeks with each pregnancy.

I suffered with quite bad sickness and dizziness (not due to pregnancy) but I found ice lollies helped. The ice didn’t make me wanna be sick and the sugar helped for obvious reasons. Hope things improve 💓

Make sure you speak to GP +tell them it's urgent when you book appt. I was so sick, couldn't keep anything down, not even water+ended up in hospital due to dehydration etc. If she can't keep fluids down, that's a must. Trust she gets help quickly so you both can enjoy this pregnancy!!

Thank you all, she has an appointment this afternoon, so fingers crossed they will prescribe something to help. I've never seen someone be sick so much! She's not eaten well in the last few weeks and struggling to stay hydrated.

sending her my sympathies .. i only had nausea, not actually being sick , 24hrs a day for 9 mths..... at the time i swore i'd rather die than be pregnant again.

however since she's being actually sick so often , hopefully the GP can help with something to take that will improve things .

they do say it usually stops after the first trimester ... so i really hope she's in the 'usually' category.

anything ginger usually helps a bit . i liked sucking on those little cubes of stem ginger in syrup , you'll find it in most supermarkets this time of year.

the only thing that stopped my nausea was Mcdonalds vanilla milkshakes .. which was tricky cos i lived with hippeis who were very anti Mcdonalds ,, so i spent my life ducking out of sight , lest i get lynched.

the afore mentioned baby is now 26 and i've (more or less) forgiven her for making me feel so sh$t for 9months

Well she's home with some anti sickness meds (cyclizine hydrochloride) and loads of ginger. The GP said she was one step away from going to A&E! Hopefully things will settle over Christmas, as we are away in the west country. Have a nice Christmas everyone
