TPO requested by my GP

I received a request from my GP yesterday to go an have my TPO checked, it is currently elevated 65ku/L [34.0] and also my T4 which was 0.05 miu/L [0.3-5.5] (below range)these results where from March. I am currently on 125mcg of Levo and 25mcg of T3 which has really improved my fatigue levels, but still struggling with any weight loss. I am a little surprised that my GP has requested this, but pleasantly surprised! I am not sure how I can get the level down and a little advice would be great. I am gluten and dairy free but am not ceoliac. I am maxed out on vit d, b12 etc, iron, feratin and folate. I'm guessing I will just have to wait and see from the next results, would an increase in Levo help me. My free T4 is 16.1 pmol/L [12.0 - 22.0]

Any help is greatly received.

"T4 which was 0.05 miu/L [0.3-5.5]"

Are you sure that's not your TSH result?

That will be your TSH which is why your GP wants to see you. He's going to say you're over medicated and to lower your dose. But taking T3 lowers, and can suppress, TSH. Does your GP know you take T3?

My free T4 is 16.1 pmol/L [12.0 - 22.0]

You are unlikely to be overmedicated with FT4 only 41% through range, but when taking T3 then testing FT3 is the most important as it's that result that tells us if we're overmedicated - it would be over range if we are. So either your GP needs to ensure your FT3 is tested along with the others or you need to do TSH, FT4 and FT3 privately.

I am not sure how I can get the level down and a little advice would be great.

Presumably antibodies? Well you can't be in complete control of those. Antibodies fluctuate, that's the nature of Hashi's. Some people find that a gluten free diet helps but there's no guarantee. Supplementing with selenium l-selenomethionine 200mcg daily might also help.

I am maxed out on vit d, b12 etc, iron, feratin and folate.

Do you have results/ranges for those?

I have told my GP, but wasn't really interested in me talking about it. I need to get my vitamin levels tested, but am struggling to fund that at the moment, and when mentioned to my GP, that I would benefit from being tested, they weren't interested. I did go to pick up my repeat prescription last week, and the pharmacy informed me that my medication was not due for repeat for another 5 days, I had two days supply left, so I am wondering if the GP thinks I am overmedicating with my Levo??

The pharmacist gave me a months supply but said they would inform my surgery and request the repeat prescription earlier. I certainly haven't been over medicating on my Levo.

A sign that they have no knowledge of the effect of T3 on TSH result.

Why do you want to lower your antibodies? Lower antibodies will not affect the Hashi's, you will still have it whatever the antibody level. :)
