I would like to try Cytomel together w my Metavive as my free thyroxine is low which looks like a conversion issue. I’m stumped as my thyroid doc retired no one has taken over his work and none of my emails to new doctors have been answered! Can some if it’s allowes d please message me where to get Cytomel. Thank you.. if any of you know a good not too expensive doctor who will be able to prescribe and accept me as a patient without having to have all the blood tests again that would be great too.

Where to get Cytomel help please and new thyroid dr !!
Do you mean your T3 is low? Thyroxine is T4. With a conversion problem, your T4 would be high but your T3 low. Maybe you should post your results, and the ranges, and let people have a look?
My results are TSH 0.196 (range 0.27 - 4.2). Freet3 5.87 (range 3.1-6.8), Free Thyroxine 11.5 (range 12-22). This was my six monthly monitoring myself check.
Thyroid advocates on fb said to try t3 as looks like conversion problem. Thanks for replying (it’s very early)..
Mulls,
You do not have a conversion problem. Your FT3 level is good and as such you do not need to medicate Cytomel.
However your FT4 is low. You would need to medicate thyroxine to raise T4 levels alone or in addition to Metavive which is only a glandular, but have you actually been diagnosed with a thyroid problem ?
Be very, very wary of fb groups. Half the time they have no idea what they're talking about, and this is a prime example!
wow really! she said conversion issues so to take cytomel to see if that helps hence my message here for help! Thank you! Whats my next step ? the group she runs is massive and this advice is doled out all the time!
Good lord! Well, You really don't have a conversion problem, and Cytomel really isn't what you want. But, I can't say what you do want without more information. Do you actually have a diagnosis? Do you never go and see your doctor, are you entirely self-treating?
yes I ve been hypo for 15 years, diagnosed w Hashi last year. I did see a private Thyroid doctor up until xmas and he's now retired he has not passed his paperwork to anyone else. My GP will only treat me with Levo which made me fat and depressed (I had a high TSH for years) . So Im also looking for a new doctor which is hard as I have many unanswered phone calls to ones that have been recommended. I had the French euthroyoid (prob not spelling correctly which I liked ) before I went to Metavive where Dr (who's now retired) got me to do parasite cleanses etc because of inflammation and is obv no longer able to advise me. thanks for replying
Do you have any lab results from the time you were on levo only? It is possible that you did have a conversion problem at that time. If so, it might be an idea to go back onto levo, and then get hold of some T3 and add it to your levo, cutting out the Metavive. The problem with Metavive is that we don't know how much hormone there is in it.
Thanks for replying. No I don’t it was about 10 years ago I was on levo only. A lot can change in that time I imagine. I ll find a new thyroid doc eventually. I will continue as I am for now. Thanks for clarifying the conversion issue.
