A talk with my GP

Thought I would share this with you all. I consulted my GP on Thursday regarding the prescribing of T3 (She won't prescribe) and tried to leave with her the RCOG Guidelines - she was not interested. I had a semi-rant about the dangers of self-medicating with T3 sourced from different places and not knowing what exactly was in them. However, this was the comment I received "don't believe anything you read on Thyroid UK it is all untrue" and "there is no definitive clinical evidence to support prescribing T3" and "most people who self-medicate over-use" Then there was a rant about Brexit meaning most prescribed drugs will be rationed.

Needless to say, I came away feeling incredibly angry!! She did suggest that I complain to the local CCG which I will do.

My GP used the term snake oil with regard to NDT, & quackery when I asked about T3. Glad I paid attention to TUK & not him. It would’ve so bad if they just admitted total ignorance.

That is sooooo bad!! Hopefully all the ‘quacks’ will still be young enough to see the complete turn around that’s coming! All of us ‘patients’ can’t be wrong can we? My NHS Endo compared the taking if T3 to steroids. She said Steriods make people feel good but I wouldn’t prescribe them long term. 😩 it’s like batting my head against a brick wall! 😱

My GP said it was full of shouty ranting Doctor-haters. I don't recognize this place from that description.

I just went to my first conference in over 3 years!!! 🥳

It’s to do with dancing, so I was not just sitting on my bottom whilst there.

Admittedly it was only 3 hours long, but I had to get up early (for me) and drive 45 mins each way too.

I’m so chuffed with myself. Until I started adding a little T3 I could not have considered doing this. My main job and passion was nearly gone.

So your “quack” is way out of order telling you T3 doesn’t work, I’m living proof it does. 🤗

I've been sourcing myself for over three years! My beef is that the NHS seems happy for us to self medicate with a drug that we have no idea of how it was made and what specification it is. I have been purchasing from the same source right from the beginning but the last batch was dreadful! A subtle version of Russian Roulette.

I had an almost identical comment from my endo yesterday. He added that the 36kg I had gained in the last 3 years was due to 'my age' and that 'it should be expected'. I actually bought a supply of T3 whilst I was in Turkey last week (40p for a month's supply) but I haven't a clue how to start taking it - that's why I was asking for his advice.
