Does anyone have experience using ERFA? (Might be EFRA)

Also who supplies it?

I believe it is manufactured in Canada.

I don't use Erfa but I believe it's a prescription only NDT.

Thanks for replying. So unless it is prescribed you won't get it?

If you're in the UK you can't get any NDT here without a prescription, and it's not easy to get NDT prescribed.

Thanks, thought as much though there does seem to be lots of conversations taking place which indicate that people do manage to source it but where from and how genuine I'm not sure.

If you are looking to source NDT without prescription, make a new post asking members if they will share their source by private message (we can't name suppliers on the open forum so post will be closed so that only PMs can be sent).

When anyone asks for a source of supply members are more likely to share their source if some detail of your thyroid journey, current dose of thyroid meds, etc, is mentioned in your post.

Thanks, totally understand given the category NDT, undeservingly I think, has now been categorised as something untrustworthy .

I was told the nhs won't prescribe it?

So how does anyone in the UK get a prescription for it?

I believe in some rare instances they will, but from what I have read on here people do seem to buy it privately.

I guess if people react badly to levothyroxine, then they will prescribe it?

It's quite likely that those who are having it prescribed on the NHS then it is historical, the prescription was initiated years ago and they have been fortunate enough not to have it rescinded. Other than that, there may be the odd older, old school doctor who has knowlege of Armour when it used to be prescribed, but I imagine those are very few and far between.

NDT can be prescribed on a "named patient basis" if you can find a doctor willing to do this:

thyroiduk.org/tuk/treatment...

Do you have the list of thyroid friendly NHS endos from Dionne at ThyroidUK? There are a couple of endos listed on their who apparently have prescribed Armour.

If you don't have the list, email Dionne at

tukadmin@thyroiduk.org

I was told at addenbrookes in cambs that the nhs won't prescribe NDT.

I went there thinking that they may be more progressive, and forward thinking, but alas, no.

The guy I saw there, intimated that my symptoms were psychological.

So needless to say, I won't be going back there.

I don't have the list, but I'l check out the link you have, in your above post.

It is manufactured in Spain.

(Yes, that is bizarre. But the Erfa company for whom it is made is in Canada.)

Thanks for the reply. How do people get to order it if indeed that is possible? I assume they do as it would seem uk prescribing is a rare thing.

It used to be mentioned quite a lot but not so often recently.

I am afraid I do not know of any sources - other than a bona fide pharmacy in Canada with a suitable prescription. And I do not have any experience of using Canadian pharmacies, so have none to recommend.

That's ok.

If you are asking if erfa is effective, my experience is very positive. I purchased it with a prescription in Belgium not sure if it’s easy to get without prescription.

I now use the ndt from Thailand and that is also very good and significantly cheaper than erfa.

For purchasing details you will have to ask on this site for a pm as the method I had used is no longer available.

Thanks. This is what I hear a lot with it being more effective for some people.

Hiya,

ERFA thyroid can be bought in the UK on a private prescription from an endocrinologist. I managed to get some with a private prescription and it wasn't too expensive but I didn't feel better on this brand so, I'm back on Armour.

TT x.

I started ERFA about 2 weeks ago, feeling good on it although my appetite has gone through the roof! 😳 I’ve got it from a private endo, and I know where to get it from if you’re interested- I can pm you? It was better value than I was expecting too.
