Hypothyroid and hypoglycaemic?

I have been struggling with trying to get to a therapeutic dose on T4, NDT and T3 only and now on T4/T3 combo. I am in a constant state of anxiety, blurred vision, weakness, slight headache and fog. I had an unusual experience today and would appreciate advice. I am so sick I have been unable to eat. At a friends home, she gave me some caramel slice. Very soon after I felt no anxiety and my vision restored. Am I having hypoglycaemia? I have never been tested. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

It does sound like low blood sugar. It may be that thyroid imbalance is causing this, but difficult to distinguish between too high and too low with these symptoms. You could have a test to see if there are any clues from fT3 and fT4 measurements. I’d suggest that you eat at regular intervals too, even if just a little. I don’t think it’s possible to get thyroid balance without three meals a day and perhaps a slight snack in between. Hypo can cause low blood sugar but also taking T3 could speed your metabolism up and lead to low blood sugar.

Thanks for replying,

I'll See my GP and get some tests for thyroid and blood sugar. I should mention I had a TT in 2017. I am a poor converter. I had low cortisol but did the CT3M method whilst on NDT and now have high cortisol?

Before I started T3, and found the right T4/ T3 combo, I was diagnosed with Reactive Hypoglycaemia, where my blood sugar drops 2 hours after eating. I have to have tiny snacks every 2 hours through the day - protein works best for me. This may/ may no be your problem, but I think it shows how these hormonal things are linked.

Thanks taraJR,

I've googled Reactive Hypoglycemia and that makes a lot of sense. I will ask my GP about a test. I will endeavor to eat very regularly. I don't always do this.

I hope it makes a difference! It's just my experience, but hopefully it may help you too.
