Migraine - 100mcg levothyroxine and half 25mg T3

This migraine has been relentless for past week at least. Have to take paracetamol to function at work but this doesn't take away the pain fully.

I was okish on quarter T3 until I upped my dose to half T3 tablet. The T3 is slowly helping weight loss so I dont want to stop it and seems most peeps take at least half tablet as quarter tablet wont make much difference.

Perhaps with my higher T3 dose I ought to drop my levothyroxine to 75mcg to stop the migraines? Blood test not due for another 2 weeks.

Thanks for advice.

Are you taking your T3 as 2 x 1/4 tablet 8-12 hours apart?

Blood test should be 6 weeks after any dose change

Taking once a day with levothyroxine

Many people, myself included, can only take T3 as small divided doses

Suggest you try 5mcg waking and 5mcg 8-12 hours later

I mean 1/4 tablet - 6.25 mcg

I took a whole tablet at 3pm and didn't sleep a wink all night. I need to sleep as my work in IT support means I need to stay sharp. You think I should try quarter in morning then next quarter at 3pm?

Yes. I actually started on 1/8th tablet twice a day

You can't rush adding T3

It has to be done incredibly slowly and carefully

Try 1/4 tablet waking and 1/4 tablet at 3pm

Wait 6-8 weeks and get full Thyroid and vitamin testing before considering any further increase

Have you just started on T3?

I had the most horrendous icepick-like headaches when I started recently.

I stopped for two days then restarted taking a quarter tablet 2x per day and kept at this for 4 days when I increased to half. Same again then increased to 3/4 and finally onto a whole tablet 2x daily.

Worked for me, no headaches at all that time. 😉

Good luck

Probably the majority only take 5mcg 2 or 3 times per day

You need what you need, it might only be 5mcg per day

Thanks. I meant more that it was just the little tablets that gave me a raging headache!

If it had been a larger dose It would have felt more justified! 😂
