Thyroid blood test and splitting T3

I have a thyroid blood test on Thursday AM and am taking T3. I know I split the dose the day before but am currently on 15mcg (so 3/4 of a tablet). Am I ok to take half (10mcg) and then a quarter (5mcg) 8-12 hours before? Splitting in half will be tricky.

Many thanks in advance!

That should be ok. It’s a little tricky as your T3 might be lower in range in you results than if you did it the other way round. Are you prescribed T3? Are you going to be showing your results to your prescriber?

Yes I am prescribed T3 and will be showing results to endo.

I take 15mcg Lio and split it into 6 x 2.5 mcg in day prior to test, taking each at regular intervals, with last dose at bedtime. I use a pill cutter for this task.

Oh my goodness. Think you are little bit more handy with the pill cutter than me! I struggle with getting it in quarters!

I agree that some parts look like specs of dust, but I keep the pieces in a small lidded pot and take them anyway; it’s not an ‘exact science’! 🤣

She couldn’t find a vein anyway so all the prep was a waste of time and I now need to try and move my endo appt as they can’t get me in again for two weeks. 🥲

Are you not able to choose from different local clinics or hospital as to where you want bloods drawn. Is the Swiftqueue website available in all parts of the country?

Moving your endo appointment could be months off.

No it’s a private endo appt so as long as he’s not on leave it should be ok albeit I might run out of meds and need an interim script. I don’t know what the swift queue website is. I book at my GP.
